The quaint town of Ipswich is one of the oldest settlements in the United States, originally inhabited by Native Americans and colonized in 1633. Thanks to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Ipswich River, Ipswich continues to be one of the state's top shellfish producers and has blossomed into a great destination for travelers seeking an authentic New England experience. With 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 1,200 square feet of living space, this home is ideal for a family or group of couples!
Not only is this property within very close proximity of the ocean and beach, but it's also close to numerous other attractions such as outstanding hiking, biking, swimming, good shopping, and restaurants.
If you're a history enthusiast, you'll also find tons of fascinating historical sites in the area, as well as opportunities for guided historic tours of Ipswich.
However you choose to spend your time during your stay, you just might find yourself wanting to return to this charming Ipswich cottage year after year!
Cottage was okay. Location was good. Parking was poor. We had to drive up a grassy and leaf covered hill and park on sloping grass. Very difficult and unsafe. I have back issues and had to have my husband assist me to the house from our parking area. I

Hi Marianne, we appreciate your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the location of the cottage. After discussing your comments with the homeowner, they wanted to clarify the parking setup:
- The property provides two designated parking options, including a pull-out area and parking at the end of the back driveway, close to the cottage entrance. It sounds like there was some initial confusion, but we’re glad we could guide you to park right next to the cottage for easier access.
- We're working on updating our listing and pre-stay information to make the designated parking more obvious for future visitors.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to provide an even smoother experience going forward.
The views were excellent! The house was perfect for a group! We could have used a microwave but the oven worked for heating up food. It was peaceful and quiet after roaming around Salem.

It was a really neat house, in a great location!! The house is clean. We liked to look at the marsh with the different birds and boats. Check in was easy, beds were soft. Didn't have to worry about much. The town was close, has great places to eat. Location was near Salem. Great time.

The house was as the pics showed. Wish there were a few more amenities like a micro, toaster and ac in the living room. Owner was great, so close to the beach, view was beautiful and I had a great time!

This house is not made for stays in the summer. There are two small window a/c units in the bedrooms with queen beds that you have to keep running constantly in order to be able to sleep at night. The rest of the house is too hot to be in for more than a few minutes, including the living room, kitchen, and other bedrooms. The kitchen has a problem with ants (even found some in the refrigerator!) and felt very unclean. Basic supplies were not provided- we had to ask for toilet paper when we arrived. The living room, as mentioned, was terribly hot and the couch smelled like urine. We washed all the slipcovers but couldn’t get rid of the smell. The upstairs bathroom doesn’t have a shower and the tub leaked into the downstairs so I’m guessing it won’t be operable for awhile either, leaving one small shower and a tub in the downstairs bathroom for all to share. Finally, the owner won’t let you park near the cottage, forcing you to schlep your luggage across a hot, uneven lawn to get to the cottage. I can’t imagine what this would be like in the snow. It’s clear the owner isn’t interested in giving guests a nice Ipswich experience or putting any care into the cottage’s upkeep.
Hi Jeanette, thank you for your detailed review. We're sorry that your experience didn't meet your expectations. The homeowner wanted to address some of the concerns you mentioned:
- We apologize for the issue with the couch. Unfortunately, a previous guest brought pets against our policy, and we were unaware of the damage until your review. We've since removed and thoroughly cleaned the couch and carpet.
- We're addressing the ant problem immediately and have scheduled an exterminator to resolve the issue.
- Regarding the heat, we acknowledge that our cottage is not equipped with central AC, and the window units may not have been sufficient during the hot and humid weather. We're considering adjusting our rental availability during the peak of summer to ensure a more comfortable stay.
- We did inform you that parking is allowed in the back driveway near the cottage, and we're sorry if there was any confusion regarding this.
Thank you again for your feedback. It helps us make improvements for future guests.
