Experience the serenity of island life from the comfort of 'The View House,' a 2-bedroom, 1-bath vacation rental home in Laupahoehoe. With 180-degree ocean views, this Hawaiian hideaway for 4 sits just 30 minutes from beautiful beaches and fun family excursions. After a day of exploring, there is nothing more relaxing than lounging on the patio and watching the waves.
Take a quick 8-minute drive to Laupãhoehoe Beach Park! Although the large waves make it difficult to swim, the beach's breathtaking scenery, small pools, and volcanic rock give it a unique local flair.
As you drive to Hilo on your way to the store, be sure to take a pit stop at Honoli'i Surf Park, 30 minutes from the property. Home to some of the best waves on the island, Honoli'i allows travelers to lounge on the black sand and watch some of Hawaii's most talented natives shred the surf.
See how the island began by visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, 53 miles south of 'The View House.' The park's 2 volcanoes, Kīlauea and Mauna Loa, have been consistently spewing lava since 1983 and contribute to the island's dynamic landscape.
For a unique Hawaiian experience contact C Big Island, an excursion company located 25 miles from the property. Offering boating, hiking, and helicopter tours of the lava fields, these excursions are sure to be something you'll never forget.
This is a place for those who want to go off the beaten track! Once you know how to get there, you will enjoy the peace and quiet. You will be able to hear roosters in the morning and see many birds. We even saw whales breech from a distance. Our hostess, Barbara was friendly and caring. She checks in regularly to make sure you are doing okay! She might even surprise you with a treat! There are many sights to check out locally. View House is not far from Hilo as well. A great place to eat nearby is at the Paapalua Country Store! If you are looking for a stay in the country, this is the place!

This is a cute but small 2 bedroom rustic unit. With a beautiful view of th er ocean. It was a good base for seeing the east side of th he island. The owners, who live in the attached unit are very nice and accommodating. We stayed for 7 days, which was a little long for us, as there are no laundry facilities. Additionally there is no stove inside. There is a BBQ outside, but it rained so much of our stay that we didn't use it. I think this is a good choice for shorter stays. We had a hot water issue, but worked through it. Also note this is in a remote area and the access is up a bumpy dirt road. We had no issues, but a lower vehicle might. If you enjoy a country Hawaii feel. This would be for you.
The people that lived at the house are very nice people...... but..... you should know that the house is attached to there own house. Also the drive up to the house is scary. But the thing that was hard for us to stay was the slugs.....

Michelle, we're very sorry your stay wasn't what you expected. The homeowners are attentive to guest needs and it's their goal to ensure they're having a pleasant stay. When they contacted you to check in, we understand you mentioned there were no problems and everything was fine, so we are surprised to receive this feedback. The homeowners prioritize the guest experience and have just had the unit professionally deep cleaned and had the pest control come over to check on this isolated scenario in addition to their regular monthly service. We encourage guests to reach out to the homeowners with any concerns so they have the opportunity to address them while you're there. We do note at the top of the listing's description that the owners live on site in a completely separate unit (separated by one building) and may be present during your stay so guests are aware of what to expect. We are confident this home will continue to host satisfied guests! Best, the Evolve Team
If you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable place with beautiful ocean views in rural Hawaii, this is it. The cottage is cozy,, with country decor, modern amenities (flatscreen TV, WiFi, microwave, gas grill), comfortable beds in both bedrooms, and personal touches like fresh tropical fruit and fragrant goats milk soap made by the owner. Large windows let the trade winds in, keeping the cottage cool even the summer. You can feed the two friendly goats that are in the adjacent pasture. There’s a cafe/general store five minutes down the road, and the cottage is close to equidistant from Hilo, the largest town on the island, and the cowboy town of Waimea. It’s a convenient base from which to explore both. The host is very gracious. Yes, there’s an occasional gecko on the wall; that’s rural Hawaii. They’re harmless, and they eat mosquitos.
I sent an email to the owner telling her how unhappy I was with the house and heard nothing back. I don't recommend staying here.
