The drive into this place is very steep, glad we had an suv… getting in and out of parking area is tight… good shower, need more towels and washcloths, beach towels smelled like fish, mattress cover and pillows need to be bleached, rug needs to be cleaned, slept with doors and windows open to get some air movement, there are fans in the bedroom, chairs in living room are very uncomfortable, no view, outside trash and parking area need cleared and cleaned up…

The drive into this place is very sketchy and very steep, glad we had an SUV… the manager needs to put a unit number on the VRBO site, we didn’t know where to go… backing out of driveway very tight… kitchen was adequate, shower was decent BUT not enough towels and washcloths, need to bleach the mattress cover and pillows, beach towels in closet smelled like fish, no good laundry option, living room chairs uncomfortable, lots of outdoor noises since we had to leave the doors and windows open to get any air flow since it was hot… no view, need to trim the trees and clean up the driveway and garbage cans
"Thanks for your feedback. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your review, and they wanted to share the following:
- The listing does note that the driveway is steep, as this is typical of our volcanic island setting. Guests with SUVs or similar vehicles find the drive manageable.
- Laundry facilities are available on-site, though we understand they may not be to everyone’s preference.
- We’ll continue maintaining the property and trimming greenery as needed to ensure the best experience for future guests.
We appreciate your comments and are glad the kitchen, shower, and overall stay worked for your trip."
The property itself is nice, even charming.Pros:Bed is very comfortable, easy to access with heavy luggage. Excellent view. Cons:Towels were sour smelling - one smelled like tea.. as if someone had used it for cleaning before folding it back up again. The sour smell actually put us off on showering. One pillow smelled as well - like greasy hair.Blinds/furninture. The blinds were functional, but old and damaged/falling apart. We couldn't get the one in the bedroom to raise/lower properly. With that and the old look of them it made the whole property feel old.The two chairs in the living room are very uncomfortable and stiff. No way to relax after a day out. They also have a feeling of being old. The carpet - seemed like it hadn't been vacuumed, and lots of gravel gets tracked in from the back porch. The back porch/Lanai - has a great view, but stays wet since the eaves only barely cover the edge. This also causes 'shingle dirt' to be present, which gets tracked inside. The outside round table is round and too big for the porch and difficult to squeeze by - seems like a square table would be much better. The caretaker lives in the next unit, and introduced himself during the stay, which was nice. Unfortunately he is not the contact on the listing (Don Winnie is the contact, with a CA number) - Don did not reply to a pre check-in email with a question. In summary, it feels like minimum effort is put into guest comfort.

Very steep driveway, your car can bottom out. Park above the house if you arrive in the dark
Nice view and deck.
Cozy space. Easy access to Kona and roads around the island. Suited our purpose.
