The place is quiet, except for the birds singing. The ocean is right outside the living room floor window. The host is friendly and willing to help us have a great trip.
Booking and arrival went smoothly with Chris giving precise and useful information right away. The place had a printout with all the things we should know, also very handy. On arrival we were a bit worried about the proximity to the highway noise, but we quickly got used to it (the coqui frogs nicely drown any noises really, and we find the frog ribbits very pleasant). Everything was impeccably clean and it was nice to have a few pantry things right at hand on arrival. Plenty kitchen utensils and service ware as well as towels, toiletries and small tables to place suitcases. Nice working range, oven, toaster and toaster oven (we used them all). Having visited the tropics we dutifully cleaned and dried everything we used right away and had no problem with insects since there was nothing for them to be attracted to. Good laundry machine and dryer, we used the iron no problem on the portable ironing board. The place was comfortable for two couples with the main bathroom having a shower and a small ensuite bathroom for the master bedroom. Beds and couches were very comfy, also nice bedding sheets. Useful fans to help neutralize the occasional humidity. Even though it is not really walking distance to Hilo, the drive is very short, and also close to the Tropical Gardens to the north. We could see the 4th of July fireworks from the lanai, and even from a distance it was fun. I think this location is perfect to see the whales that show up in Hilo Bay during January and February.
We really enjoyed our stay at this home! The location was great - just a short 5-10 minute drive away from central Hilo. This made it easy to go into the downtown area but felt just tucked away enough to disconnect and de-plug. The home was very spacious, and the kitchen had all we needed plus more to cook a couple nights during our stay. We absolutely loved waking up here every day, the views right outside the top balcony/porch were breathtaking. We would definitely stay at this home again - thank you for having us!
This was a great place to stay to explore Hilo and the surrounding area. It has a great view and the property manager is very helpful but not intrusive. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a brief stay at this home. Everything was very clean. There is some highway noise, but it did not interfere with our sleep. We could also hear the ocean waves from here, which was nice. We did see a few whales from the deck. It is an older home with some slanting floors and other quirks, but it worked fine for us.
