Kona side Hawai'i Getaway
5/5 Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of space for our family of 5, including 3 children. Loved the open space design and the wrap around covered porch with great views of the ocean and enjoyed beautiful sunsets while eating dinner on the back patio dining table. Cool mosaic detail in the tile floors inside and on porch. Beds and furniture were all nice and comfortable. My wife who does most of cooking found kitchen to be ample, but the bottom oven didn't work. As with most homes in HI, there is no HVAC, but there is nice breeze to keep home cool. One night, one of the neighbors were watching a horror movie and it kept my wife awake since you hear everything outside, but fortunately I had already passed out. Also, be prepared to see critters in home due to being in tropics. Several friendly geckos greeted us. We loved close access to Pebbles Beach about 3 minute walk down road and we also found a secluded small black sand beach down a trail going north from pebbles beach where it hits the lava flow. We loved this and had it all to ourselves with some cool snorkeling!!! Great bonus was home came furnished with lots of beach gear including chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear that came in handy! One thing about home listing however, is that the home is about 20 minutes south of Captain Cook. When we booked, we just assumed that home was actually in Captain Cook so was surprised by that. Home has a CC address. It was ok since we were looking for an off the beaten path getaway, but just something to consider. We stocked up with groceries at Walmart Kona after getting our rental car from airport.

5/5 Everyone had a blast. The 5 min. walk to the beach was awesome. Beautiful veiw from the balcony. You are an hour away from Kona. Highly recommend this beach house.
