Response from the Property Owner
The apartment was beautiful and spacious. The fold out couch was perfect for the kids, and firm.
My small complaints; the bed was not so firm, which if you have a bad back, can aggravate the issue. Circle back to the couch... there were 2 extra pillows, but they were a bit in the thin side, and only one pillow case and a fitted sheet. The body wash in the shower was quite runny, watery. Lastly, with the rocky and sandy parking area, it might be a good idea to have a broom in the room. It rained and the dirt got stuck in our shoes and tracked inside even after wiping our feet.
Other than those small issues, the stay was nice. Easy entry with the key codes, and close walking distance to shops and such.
Unfortunately when we arrived at the apartment at 9PM after an 8 hour drive, we discovered roaches in the bathroom, dog hair covering the couch and bed, and clear signs of unwashed bedding. The management contact sent her husband over with new sheets and roach spray as a solution. While he was in the unit (completely missed our cues to leave after almost an hour of lingering) he let us know that the roaches were actually palmetto bugs (no difference to me, there are still roach-like bugs in the unit) and are just part of the Florida experience much like gators and snakes.
I booked a new accommodation that night and we re-packed the car and left as soon as possible. I also own an Airbnb unit and understand that mistakes happen, but this was unacceptable and uncomfortable.
Hi May, we're sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations. After reading your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:
- We’re truly sorry the substitute cleaning partner didn’t meet our standards, especially after our regular cleaning partner fell ill. We fully acknowledged the issue and issued a 100% refund as soon as possible.
- We promptly brought freshly washed and ironed sheets, along with a new blanket, to try and remedy the situation late that evening.
- Palmetto bugs are unfortunately common in Florida, especially during seasonal weather changes. We do treat the apartment regularly with Ortho Home Defense to prevent issues. While we didn’t find any bugs ourselves during our visit, we understand your concern and discomfort.
Thank you for your review. It helps us improve the guest experience.
Visited St. Augustine in conjunction with a Wine and Food Festival. Location was great, only one block away from Ice Plant, San Sebastian Winery, Distillery. Less than a 10 minute walk to the historic district. Liked the porches and being able to sit outside. Place was clean and had all we needed. Parking was very easy. Would stay here again.

From the Owner: "Hi Bernadette, thank you for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that Dream Suite provided a great location and beautiful amenities for your stay. It's fantastic to know that you enjoyed sitting on our two big porches to enjoy food and wine daily. We're delighted that our room and services met your expectations. Your kind words mean a lot to us, and we can't wait to welcome you back in the future!"
Overall my stay at the apartment was OK, the majority of the issues lied with the apartment and whoever runs the stay. There was no soap in the bathroom, I found myself taking dish soap to and from the kitchen to the bathroom to wash my hands. The advertised laundry room was nowhere to be found, traveling with a newborn prompts abrupt cleaning. I reached out to the primary contact via phone, email, and text no response was ever received. The apartment was minimally equipped with sheets, which I had to locate myself. The apartment/buildings construction must be entirely wood because anytime a truck passed by the entire house would rumble, as if an earthquake was occuring, which is might not be in control of evolve, but scary and should be known to the people who stay. The one thing the apartment had going for itself was location, which really is nice if you enjoy walking and exploring.
From the owner: Hi Armend, we are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations and that you had a bad experience. We strive for each guest to feel they are in a home away from home.
- Our cleaner is usually very reliable and responsive. They must have had an emergency, and we are sorry for that. We also leave our contact information and wish you had reached out to us with any issues. We are available to answer questions and rectify any problems.
- We are sorry that you had trouble finding the extra sheets; they are kept in the closet.
- We appreciate your remark about locating the laundry. It is on the left side of the building. We will immediately add a sign to identify it so that anyone will be able to find it.
- Regarding your comment about the rumbling of the house. It was built in 1925 with bricks from the ground to the top, not wood. It is a very solid structure, having weathered numerous hurricanes during the past hundred years, so there is nothing to worry about. However, if huge trucks drive on King Street, at times you can feel some minor vibrations, nothing compared to an earthquake. St. Augustine is an ancient city, and its streets were not built for today's heavy trucks.
We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
