From the owner: "Thank you for choosing Sopchoppy Seclusion. We are glad you had a pleasant experience, and thank you for taking the time to review."
This home is on a lovely piece of land on a river with an amazing view from the dock. The house was spacious enough for 3 couples and we felt the kitchen was very well-equipped for cooking in terms of pots, pans, knives, etc. Beware that although the listing says there are kayaks, you cannot put them in the water at the property, it’s too steep. The deck is also pretty wobbly and there are some bees that seem interested in the location, but that didn’t deter us. The rooms were plenty dark and the house was quiet for sleeping, but if you need firm mattresses, these were very soft. You also need to flip a switch on in the living room for hot water, which we learned the hard way. The wifi worked well for us but also beware that there is no cell service and no house phone. When we had a question for the hosts, we had to drive 10-15 minutes away to ask them. Our issue was a very strong-smelling cleaning product that had been left in the house, and the hosts were very accommodating and helpful when we got in touch with them. Just had to leave to get a quick answer. Last issue was there wasn’t much privacy in the Jack and Jill bathroom if that is being shared between friends—the sliding door didn’t close all the way. My impression is that this is a new Vrbo and the hosts want to make it nice and will be accommodating, but certain kinks hadn’t been worked out yet. I imagine some of what I’ve written here would already be fixed by the next time someone rents the home, they’re just things that I would’ve wanted to know when I booked. It’s a nice price for the location and space.

Shared from the owners: "Thank you for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed the space and time. You are correct, this is our first and only vacation property, we simply want to share the place we love with others and share the experience while covering some of our costs.
You are also correct; we do address concerns as quickly as possible. We want all of our guests to be as delighted as we are with the location and property. We bought the kayaks for our use, and post that guests need to take them to Mack’s Landing for launch. Not everyone has that ability, however, for those that do the river is untouched and amazing. As soon as possible we will have a floating dock installed but we have not been able to find a contractor to complete the work this year. The deck itself has been inspected and is safe.
The water heater switch is marked and although we have written instructions about general house information, we will find a way to assure it is not turned off. The Damp Rid was purchased to help absorb some of the moisture due to the humidity (hence, the chemical smell detected). Since our conversation, it has been removed for future guests.
Thank you again. We appreciate your comments and your sharing of our home. "
It was roomy, modern, quiet, remote, well stocked. My only wish would have been for more comfortable seats in the living room. The couch was too big, slippery, and soft for my bad back. A smaller firmer upholstered arm chair would have served me better. I had to sit in the dining chairs to get the support I need. Also, my husband had to crawl out of the recliners and turn them over to close. Everything else was perfect.

Hi Libby, thank you for taking the time to leave your review. The homeowner has asked us to pass along the following message: "Libby, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your feedback. I am sorry about your back and will definitely consider some alternative seating. Thank you for choosing us and we wish you safe travels."
Very relaxing environment. Surrounded by forest and river in the backyard. Off the main road about 1mile gravel road to the destination. Two other houses beside. So no reason to be scared. House was very nice and relaxing. Enough space.
