We arrived late (11:30PM) and immediately noticed the house was hot, musty, and had a stale smell. The floors were covered with a thin layer of sand/dirt and the floor in the kitchen had dark, shiny sticky splotches. In both bedrooms, the pillows and sheets smelled like dirty hair as if they had been slept on and not changed and there was sandy grit in the sheets. The ceiling fan was filthy. In the second bedroom, there was a sticky ring (like from a drinking glass) on the dresser. In the bathroom, there was dirt and hair on bathtub and by the drain. In the kitchen, the dishes were crusted with food, indicating they had been put away unclean. The pictures on this listing are not accurate. In the living room (photos #45 on the listing), the pictured couch, buffet, and armchair were missing, and instead a drab, cheap brown couch, the tv, and the two tables (but one was broken and crooked) were all that were there. The settee, chair and couch in the Florida room (photo #1 on the listing) have been replaced with a single cheap brown couch. In the backyard (listing photo #3, 18), the solar lights were broken and an entire fence panel in the back right of the yard had fallen down with broken pieces still there. The solar lights along the front path were also broken and plants were overgrown into the walkway. We contacted the host and were advised to change our own sheets. We stayed 9 hours of our 5 night stay and are still trying to get a refund.

    Manager's Response:

From the owner: Thank you, JK, for sharing your feedback. The home was fully serviced by my regular cleaning team the day before your arrival, and they confirmed it was guest-ready as usual. I’m sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect that. I take cleanliness and upkeep very seriously and will review your comments carefully with my team to ensure everything continues to meet our standards for future guests.

  • A very good property very close to Reddington beach .

    5/5

We had a fantastic week at this beachside house . Well kept and good house close to the beach . Peaceful neighborhood and comfortable house .

Plenty of nearby restaurants a walking distance from other beaches .

Would like to stay again in this property when visiting Tampa.

Location of this property is great. The cottage itself is pretty dated. It felt like an eldery person's residence that has been opened up to VRBO rentals.

I didn't receive the code to enter the property at all. So I had to spend about 2 hours trying to track down the owner. My point of contact didn't answer the phone or respond to multiple messages when trying to retrieve the code to enter. I had to contact the property management company and VBRO customer support to finally get a response.

All the linens were old and of poor quality. The towels were very old in the condition of a cheap motel. Scratchy etc.

The kitchen utensils and dishware was all mismatched and old. The biggest miss was the coffee situation. There was K cup machine, which is fine, but the kitchen only had 4 K cups stocked for a three night stay for two guests. And they had a jar of instant coffee. The refrigerator seemed on the newer side, but without an ice maker. There were two ice trays (empty) and the old ice bucket from the previous freezer. No other kitchen amenities are provided.

At this price point, the owners need to do a lot better to make the place more comfortable. Remove the ancient TVs, spend a little money for new linens and towels and matching dishware. Get a drip coffee pot! All very easy to do.
