  I don’t like to leave bad reviews but This was the worst place I have ever stayed. I sent a message to the owner with no response and I normally wouldn’t do this but I am concerned about the safety. There were many safety issues. To get to the house you had to walk through a yard that was covered in acorns. Had parts of an old sidewalk that was broken and had pieces sticking up and very uneven. At night there were no outside lights and we had to use our flashlights from our phones so we could see and not trip on the concrete. The deck to get in the unit was very spongy and not safe. I’m surprised we didn’t go through it. The pictures posted are nothing like it really is and the description was inaccurate. The pool was full of stuff and not running. It was not private as advertised. There wasn’t a fire pit area. The patio area was dirty. The TV didn’t work, it wasn’t even plugged in. My husband had to move the TV cabinet to find the plug and the remote wasn’t working. There wasn’t any cable or satellite like advertised. The WIFI didn’t work. The blinds were all broken and didn’t close all the way. The owner lived on site and we saw him watching us from a window but never came out to greet us or say hi. The good things were it was really close to downtown MT Dora and the bed was comfortable. Make sure you bring your own clock !!

  From the owner: We are sorry that you were not satisfied with our home. We were home and would have been happy to assist in any way we could, but we didn't hear from you until you had already checked out. We would like to clarify the following;
  
  - We have two motion detector lights from the parking area to the cottage. We have installed 4 more.
  - We have reinforced the deck and have a carpenter scheduled to replace a couple of the boards. They are not rotten, just weathered from wear.
  - Regarding the trip hazards, there are numerous oak trees in the yard, and it is fall. We maintain the yard weekly, but it has been especially windy before and during your stay.
  - The pool does not have a screened enclosure, and it has been difficult to maintain due to the weather. We have had numerous positive reviews mentioning how clean we keep the pool. The pool pump is on a timer and works perfectly fine. We also do not list it as a private pool; it is mentioned in the listing that it is a shared pool.
  - The fire pit is in the lanai area, and we provide firewood. We also have a 2nd one in the shed for hurricane season. We would have set it up if you had asked.
  - I have replaced the blinds. There were a couple of slats broken at the bottom.
  - We have had no issues with the wifi or remote, and there are several apps that you can choose from. If you needed help, again, we were available.
  - There is a clock on the microwave.
  
  We strive to make all our guests comfortable, and we have over 80 5-star reviews from satisfied guests. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

  Exactly as described! Perfect for a couple. Kitchen was complete enough to make a huge batch of baked Rigatoni. Bed was comfy loungers power reclined and the air was cold on hot days. The pool was cleaned daily and wonderful. Great parking. Private fenced back yard. Literally minutes from cute downtown Mt Dora. I will stay here the next time we visit my Dad.
