  We stayed at this property for three months over the winter and overall enjoyed the location and our time in Homosassa. However, the condition of the home upon arrival did not meet reasonable expectations.

  When we checked in, a significant amount of cleaning had not been completed. We found the refrigerator, cabinets, appliances, and furniture in need of thorough cleaning, including leftover food, grease buildup, and unclean surfaces throughout the home. We ended up spending considerable time deep cleaning multiple areas before we could comfortably settle in.

  There were several maintenance issues including non-functioning lights, plumbing inconsistencies, and problems with the kitchen sink sprayer and air conditioning. The ice-maker does not work, so bring a countertop option from home or use the trays/bucket we left.

  One of the primary reasons we selected this property was the pool, which was not properly maintained and was unusable. This significantly impacted our overall experience, as access to a functional pool was an important factor in choosing this rental. There is not a heater on the pool, so we would not have used the pool in the middle of our stay anyway, but in the beginning and end of the trip, we would have used it if it were clean.

  Additionally, some aspects of the home are partially renovated or in more dated condition than reflected in the listing photos. The images shown do not fully represent the current state of certain areas of the property.

  They did eventually reimburse the cleaning fee of $200 (amount listed in the contract) and addressed a couple of repair items after we reached out. That said, future renters should be aware that the property may not be consistently prepared to a high standard prior to arrival, and that some advertised features may not be fully reliable.

  Note: After we returned home, we had an email from the owner that stated ""it took 4 hours of me and 1 of the cleaners to get it in the shape you found it. The cleaning company charges $250 for 2 people for 2 hrs. A full deep clean is $500 and takes 8 hrs which simply was not possible as people left the same day you arrived."  The point is that math does not add up. It took us 4 days to get the house fully prepared for our stay and for our guests. While we appreciate the $200 reimbursement, we worked much harder, at the very least $500 worth, to get the home thoroughly cleaned and feel that we were owed that amount at the very least.

• Excellent location on the Nature Coast

  The house is in a wonderful community with great neighbours. It’s close to outdoor adventures for hiking, kayaking and seeing manatees. This is a big house which is great for a large family/group of friends with spaces for everyone. We were there in January and the weather was cool so we were unable to fully appreciate the pool area as it is not a heated pool. The beds for us were a little uncomfortable but all in all we enjoyed our stay.

  We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. It is a very quiet neighborhood and easy to get around and close to many grocery stores and places to eat. The owner was wonderful to work with and took great care of us. I recommend staying here. If our health allows we hope to return.
