  My little family of four stayed here for 3 weeks so my husband could start his new job in the area and while we were in the process of purchasing our first home. We moved from Southwest Florida and weren't sure what to expect, but this place definitely exceeded our expectations! Being within walking distance of the State Park was an absolute dream. With all of the abundance of wildlife and the beautiful playground my children enjoyed almost every single day, I just felt like it was a much welcomed refuge from the stress of uprooting our little family and all that goes along with it. We took a tour of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic homestead and thoroughly enjoyed it, we never had to get in our car to get there it was literally a short walk! As a family we ate at The Yearling, a short 5 min drive away and it's namesake is credited to Rawlings most famous book. It was around my birthday, so my husband and I did a free wine tasting at Island Grove Winery 10 min down the road. The wines were so delicious and literally anywhere you drive is absolutely beautiful. I arrived not knowing anything about Cross Creek, but I left with a new strong connection with the place. This vacation rental had absolutely everything we needed, it was very clean and well maintained. It felt like a home away from home. :) It's on a canal, which was dry at the time of our stay, but we enjoyed seeing the small gators laying in the mud and the Turtles laying eggs right from the backyard! We rented the side with the screened in porch and it was definitely an added bonus...the kids and I spent a lot of time doing our schoolwork (we homeschool), playing games and just enjoying watching nature! We would 100% love to rent this place again!!!
