  • Great little cabin stay

Family enjoyed staying at his property. The gas fire was a nightly favorite for making smores, the back deck was a great patio setting for grilling, or just sitting and watching the hummingbirds. We walked the property and discovered lots of wildflowers to the delight of our 3yr old.

Pros: in the middle of everything; Ned, Black Hawk, Idaho Springs, nice property with lots of little awesome amenities, snacks, etc. comfortable beds, rustic setting.

Cons: no AC, it got warm one night but was cool the rest of our stay; privacy can be a challenge-you can easily hear from one bedroom to the other; a little close to the road, although it quiets down during the evening.

We do find that the mountain views bring lots of summer visitors, and we wish it was quiet all year long! Come back in the winter for a completely different experience."

  • Cozy Landing for Hiking Adventurers

Our stay was great! We were welcomed with a clean, well-stocked cabin even down to a basket of snacks waiting for us after a long day of travel for some hungry travelers! Location was great for popping out to hiking trailheads, as well as being centrally located to Rollinsville/Nederland and downtown Black Hawk. Thank you for the great stay!

  • Blackhawk 2024 getaway

The cabin was nice, well equipped and appropriate for the size of our group. We were made welcome and treated kindly especially when I didn't understand some instructions, my fault entirely. The opportunity to use the property is appreciated!

From the owner: "We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The Colorado mountains are a beautiful place to play. We have had a mama and baby moose frequent the property in the last month. I hope you got to see the wildlife during your stay."

  • Weekend Mountain Getaway

Check in and communication was seamless. Cabin was "rustic meets ski lounge" - exactly what we were after! The property is somewhat close to the main road/highway, so you can hear some road noise from time to time. Overall excellent experience!

  • Wishing we didn't have go!

Sorry for the long winded review. Its well worth it. I don't know where to start, so here we go. After staying a few night in Black Hawk (mini Vegas) we checked into this cabin for the balance of our trip. Upon arrival we were greeted with snow on the ground which we were hoping to see. The interior of the cabin is beautiful with a large living area and bedrooms plus the loft upstairs too. Our first night in the cabin we got 18"+ of snow and we were loving it. My nephew that came with us has never left Hawaii let alone seen snow ever before. The look on his face to see snow falling was absolutely priceless. The kitchen has full appliances, cooking utensils and dishes which made staying so much easier. We cooked many meals including grilling some steaks outside on the gas grill that is available to use. We made use of the fire pit outside to enjoy the warmth seeing as it was mostly between the 40's to 20's for most of our trip. Also the wood burning stove in the house added to the comfort during the colder parts of the night. They already had split firewood ready and a hatchet to make kindling as you needed. If you decide to venture out of the cabin area. You're not very far from Nederland which is a nice small town with several small, but tasty restaurants available. We went to Crosscut for some amazing wood fired pizza. We also went to B&F Market for some last minute groceries. It's the closest without having to drive 45+ minutes and prices to us were very reasonable considering we all live in Hawaii. The property is well maintained. Although we couldn't use some part due to all the snow on the ground. We made the best and chose to use the toboggans in the garage and taught my nephew how to make a trail and us them. After some trial and error he found out how to get things done and made a few very nice runs to use. I know there is a lot more we can say about this beautiful place, but we'll run out of room before that will happen. We can't say enough about this place and really look forward to coming back for sure. We'd like to try early fall when the leaves begin to change and the temperature starts to cool. Some of us have been to Colorado in the middle of summer at the drag strip at Bandimere Speedway and know how hot it can get there. We're going to miss going to Thunder Mountain for the races.
