  • Family Reunion

    5/5

We had our first family reunion, and our large group of 3 generations fit perfectly. Everyone had plenty of room to sleep and relax. The weather was still bringing some winter mix during our stay, which was fun for our southern family. We truly enjoyed the comfort of the house, a well equipped kitchen, even with a large selection of spices. There's a nice jar with some snacks and most importantly packets of Acli-Mate mountain sports drink. These helped a lot of us while adjusting to the elevation. I'd suggest Liquid IV Hydration as well, if you're not used to high elevations. It will take a bit to adjust, depending on age and health. My husband is a smoker and he had to use the oxygen cans they sell at the local stores. But, once we went down to do hikes or visit town (Breckenridge), everyone felt just fine. You might want to check with your phone carrier before heading out, about Wi-Fi Calling. Since this is up in the mountains, service can be in and out. The Wi-Fi in the house worked just fine. We truly had a memorable time, playing board games in the evenings, after family dinners. The younger crowed enjoyed the hot tub after putting kids to bed. Overall it was a very nice stay. Our host was available if needed, and he and his wife were very helpful. Thank you for sharing your home and helping us have such a memorable reunion.

Amazing house and host. Three families with nine kids fit comfortably in the house. Had everything that was needed for a fantastic ski vacation. Will be back!

A group of my friends and I came up for my birthday weekend. The house is fantastic and we all greatly enjoyed our stay. The multiple levels made for great privacy, as there was a 1.5 year old with us who needed to go the bed rather early. We also loved all the sleds and other winter sports in the garage. We had a really fun time sledding on one of our days here. I would definitely rebook this house and recommend it to any big groups. One thing I would recommend is to bring a speaker if you want to listen to music. We did not find any speaker/sound system to play music on when we were playing board games, but we also didn't look very hard, which could easily be on us.

  • Gorgeous Home and View. Be aware of Elevation Sickness

    3/5

Its the perfect getaway home. Except its 10,000+ feet above sea level. The entire family suffered from elevation sickness the entire stay. I'm a pilot and scuba dive for pleasure and have never felt Elevation Sickness. It is a thing and clients should be warned ahead of time. Alma is the highest town/city in Colorado.Other than that the house and scenery was beautiful.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Jose, thank you for your review! The homeowner wanted to share the following: "Our guests come for the mountain experience including skiing and hiking. The elevation of the local ski resorts and the most popular hiking and mountain bike trails are all higher than the house. Colorado is the highest state in the Union. On my first visit to Denver, Colorado fifteen years ago "the mile-high city" I had an experience with altitude that was I not prepared for, however, it passed quickly, and fell in love with the state. In the written details given to guests before arrival the altitude and location of the house are provided. One of the ways to alleviate nausea
from altitude is simply to drink more water and slow down! As a courtesy,
we remind guests they are coming to the mountains and also supply hydration supplements along with other goodies for their comfort and pleasure. We always provide safety and comfort tips to our guests, especially those coming from the flatlands and who may not be used to the mountain experience. We recognize the benefits that you enjoyed the scenery and hospitality and we strive that every guest has a five-star experience. Our commitment to all our guests is to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests as evidenced in all other reviews."
