  Upon arrival it was 87 degrees in the cabin and seemed that nobody had cleaned between guests. The vents were blowing heat even though the thermostat was set to 50. When we texted the Owner, he explained that that AC didnt work and its best to use the window mount one in the bedroom and use fans. We realize AC isnt always present in old cabins but the house advertised AC. When we arrived there was an upstairs window open even though the instructions say to close all windows. We found the sheets and towels to be clean, but that was the only sign someone had been there between guests. This means somebody didn't care about sanitation. There wasn't just a dusty floor, or grease in the kitchen, but actual layers of soap and shampoo in the shower below the shampoo bottles and a used razor with hair all over it! There were bath mats/rugs in the bathroom that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a year. They were beige until we washed them to reveal they were actually grey. There was hair all over the bathroom floor like someone had just blew-dried their hair. The toilet had pee and public hairs on it.

  We're not shoes-in-the-house people, but we had so much stuff stuck to our feet when walking even after sweeping, that we wore our shoes.

  The fridge was covered in mostly grease hand prints and food. Some of our food started out on the counter but was swarmed by ants and we had to throw breakfast pastries and a pie away. When we put the other stuff in the fridge it filled with water! Apparently the fridge is going out soon because its thawing and pooling water on the shelves and down into the bottom. When we opened the fridge we observed brown gross water at the bottom. Dirty dishes in the dishwasher. The items in the cabinets were greasy and sticky. So not only is this house supposed to be cleaned properly between guests but it's been long overdue for a major spring cleaning. When you arrive you're asked to turn on the water in the laundry room. You're met with intense mold smell. When we washed the rugs we found the laundry room to be flooding the bathroom adjacent. No response from the Owner! There was old water damage and mold. I've never complained to VRBO before and had to look up how. They started a "claim" and I felt more reassured but never heard from the Property Manager. Just sad experience for $700+. I HAD to have THIS cabin even though it was pricey but reminded me of my childhood cabin.
