The place looked great in the ad but here is the reality:
1. “Steps from fishing”: not even close unless you are the type that is working for 20k steps a day. Then it’s “steps”. Just lots of them.
2. They charge a cleaning fee of $175. This place was the dirtiest rental I’ve ever stayed at. The linens were covered in hair. We didn’t even dare to use the shower in the 4 days we were there. We had to buy our own sponge and cleaning supplies to wipe the place down and wash the dishes. If you take your shoes off, your feet will turn black from the floor.
3. No ac? not really a problem except… the loft gets really hot. And the windows don’t have screens. The mosquitoes were pretty bad. So the kids melted up there. Speaking of the loft, unless you are about 3 or 4 feet tall, it’s not a room for you. My 7 year old’s head hit the ceiling when he stood up.
4. The cabin is absolutely bare. My parents rented the cabin next door and didn’t even have a fork. You do get a grill, but there are no grilling tools. No tongs, no spatula, nothing. There is no cutting board. There are no games for kids, not even a puzzle or deck of cards. No books. No nothing.
5. The place had rodent bait and traps throughout. Not great for pets and kids. Lots of spiders.
6. There is a “For Sale” sign for the rental properties. It is clear that either the owners just don’t care anymore and/ or the cleaning person is completely ripping these people off.
7. I’d say this is not a cabin for a family. It’s good for about 2 people who just need lights, running water, and a roof and walls, and something to cook on. That is really all you are getting.
Nice place

We enjoyed local restaurants near the cabin. Enjoyed paddle boarding at the lake and coming back to the cabin for a bbq. The accomodations were comfortable and clean. A beautiful little community with restaurants and the lake nearby. We will definitely be back.

The cabin was basic but had everything we needed for a long weekend. It was quiet and comfortable.
