  • Great deck and shower

    3/5

This house has a really nice deck that was great for stargazing and has a large grill. However the house itself felt a tad cramped for us especially with the heat wave. The whole house fan does a good job of keeping things cool but it was hard to keep the curtains open at night because of the cameras and motion lights outside our room, where the overhead fan needs to be fixed. We had to keep the shades closed to prevent light from the cameras coming in. I loved the full wall shower and communication with the host was excellent. Foosball and other games were fun and there are a lot of TVs if that’s your thing. Kitchen is decently stocked. (Owner did provide a freestanding fan).

  • Great spot once we got in!

    3/5

Spot was great for a brief birthday getaway.

    Conveniently located:

    - about 20 minutes from Ironstone Amphitheater (where we were seeing a concert)

    - a 15-minute walk to a great cafe

    - 5-minute drive to the lake

    - only about 10 - 15 minutes away from a Big Trees Park

Had trouble getting into property due to a breakdown in communication - my phone number was incorrect on the VRBO site so I didn't receive the text the property manager sent and the info I received in advance via email was incorrect and I did not receive an email with updated information.

Couldn't get a hold of the property manager for about an hour and half and the VRBO support was not supportive.

The bummer was that I had no service and had to drive about 20 minutes out to get service to attempt to resolve.

Once resolved, we sighed with relief and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors via our favorite part of the property, the deck!

  • Good stay, clean cabin, but…

    4/5

The stay was good, and the cabin was clean. My only suggestion is I would make it apparent in the listing ad that the only heat source in the cabin is a wood burning stove and central fan. We arrived at the cabin late at night, and it was probably 40 degrees inside. I got the fire going, but it still took 2-3 hours to heat the house up. Needless to say it was a cold sleeping experience for my family and I. The host was responsive and did send a text message earlier in the day on how to start a fire. He suggested we start the fire as soon as we arrive. We thought it was just a nice gesture, not something integral to the comfort of the stay.
