  • Luxurious rental, poorly equipped

    We loved the house and location, but it was poorly equipped. The good: 3 comfortable bedrooms, 2 excellent bathrooms, operational gas fireplace, workspace off the kitchen. Loved having garage access. The location was only four miles from the amazing Catalina State Park, and 2.5 miles from the Saturday Oro Valley Farmers Market. Stores galore everywhere. Only 23 minutes from Sabino Canyon. We love to hike and so this is an ideal location. The whirlpool in the backyard was a real plus and we saw lots of bird action including hummingbirds, roadrunners, quails, morning doves and others. We were able to enjoy the backyard throughout our month + stay in March. The bad: no toaster, no regular coffee pot, no dish towels, no frying pan or baking dish, inadequate supply of bowls, no wine glasses, no peeler, no small plates, no tupperware, no kitchen items like aluminum foil, garbage bags, sandwich bags. We had to purchase all of these items which should have been supplied as we paid a premium price for a long term rental in what was advertised as a "luxury" rental. There was also no bath mat in the master bathroom and starter supplies of spices were only provided upon complaint. There was no chair in the garage to change out of my dirty hiking boots. The contact from Evolve was great, but she had no real ability to respond to our requests. She did provide some missing items, but the owner and the Evolve staff were negatively responsive to our requests. I also had arranged to have the mail delivered to the location's mailbox and the owner refused to provide a key so I had to get the local post office to pick up my mail. It felt like the owner and Evolve really didn't have any concern about providing services or making me a happy customer. I was NOT happy. I made a lot of calls and even spoke to a supervisor to no avail. We have stayed at many other vacation rentals that were fully equipped. I had to put out over $200 out of pocket to get the items we needed to function. What a shame. Will not use Evolve again based on this negative experience. They also refused to provide any compensation for the problems we encountered.

    - As is standard in the vacation rental industry, the owner provides a starter amount of essentials, and once that amount is out, it's typical for the guest to purchase more supplies, especially for longer stays or larger groups. While we try to accommodate all our guests' needs, we're sorry the complimentary supplies didn't meet your preferences. Thank you for reaching out to us during your stay.
