  I'm really struggling with how to review our stay at Casa De Oro. In some areas it was definitely 5 stars. In other areas it was definitely 1 star. Overall, I'd say it averaged out to 3 stars.

  The description as a private romantic spot was just what my husband and I needed for my cancerversary celebration. We planned to hike in the mornings, then come back for lunch and to relax on the patio together in the afternoons. Unfortunately, the owner had some plans that absolutely disrupted our experience and made our stay incredibly frustrating instead of the relaxing vacation that we needed. She inundated us with rules and info before we arrived and was adamant she see us before check in to tuck us in. She had construction on the driveway all day one day, then a garage sale all day the next two days. We had none of the privacy we expected based on the listing, but I don't believe it is normal for this location. The host lives in the 2nd floor of the house and was prepping for the garage sales/moving late into the night, which made it impossible for us to sleep/relax. However, she was very kind and allowed me to order an amazon package to the house, and she was very understanding when we accidentally left our really good food in the fridge when we were trying to rush out before the start of that days garage sale. She moves out of the upstairs soon and the entire house will be available. I think it will be a great spot then.

  Owner's response: "Elizabeth, we provide our guests with instructions to make their experience safer and smoother. We admit the welcome text is rather lengthy but it includes information about the suite, packing and arrival tips as well as emergency contact information. Most guests appreciate the thoroughness. It is especially useful for those guests who do not want an in-person check-in experience. We did not meet because you did not want the in-person check-in, which is fine. We did call to ask if you could change the parking to a different spot in the driveway and to inform you about the plans for the weekend.
  
  We did not have any preparations for the garage sale in the evenings. There was no unusual evening activity that would have kept you awake. We made sure to prepare everything for the sale on Friday when you were out of the house. The sale took place only one day and not two. There was minimal foot traffic and no noise disturbance. We would have done what we could to not disturb you if you were at home.
  
  We did not have any construction done while you were at the property, we did have the landscaper out to smooth the driveway. This will be a benefit to guests as it will prevent mud during rainy days. This took 75 minutes and was done while you were not at the property.
  
  There was no reason for you to rush off and if you needed you could have asked for a late check-out. We're sorry that you did not feel you received the full 5-star experience.
  
  We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests. We will continue to deliver the 5-star experiences we are known for."

  Not a very functional kitchen. Had to do a big step down into a window well for the shower. Lots of cat noise in upstairs unit. Strange to meet owner before staying there. Otherwise had a great Sedona vacation.

Guests find the provided amenities sufficient for preparing light meals, snacks, and reheating leftovers from the local eateries.
  -Within the bathroom, guests will discover a shower featuring a step-down entrance leading into a generously sized, deep tile tub. For added safety, grab bars have been installed throughout. Furthermore, the inclusion of a new Insta-heat tankless water heater guarantees an abundance of hot water, facilitating indulgent showers or tranquil baths for our guests' relaxation and comfort.
  -The guest did not express any concerns or specific requests following the brief check-in. It is always the sincere desire of the host to ensure guests have a truly exceptional experience. • Wonderful Hideaway in West Sedona

  My husband and I recently stayed at this lovely little suite while exploring Sedona. The suite was in great condition—everything was neat and super clean. The suite is very private (but VERY convenient), and the patio is lovely. The closet in the bedroom is huge, and the bed is super comfy. Andie, our host, was a wealth of information about local sights, restaurants, traffic, and more. (She's provided a ton of information for guests in two binders as well.) I highly recommend this place and would definitely book it again!
