  • Restful New Years Getaway


    Big House Cabin was great for my family. Had a minor issue with the internet, in which owner got back to us after a few hours to allow us to reset the router. WiFi login info in confirmation email was incorrect; happened to find correct login info written in a notebook by tv. We enjoyed all the amenities provided in the cabin! House was great!

    Evolve and the home owner are more concerned about money than my safety. Upon arrival, the keys in an unsecured magnetic keyholder were missing. The Housekeeper was just leaving and confirmed this. I texted Evolve's contact and told her I needed the locks changed since keys were missing. When she told owner, the owner said it was intentional, and although it was not on the instructions, I was to take the key from the locked box on the pillar and there were no missing keys. I had no code, or instructions from Evolve to do this. Later that night, I found the missing keys attached to a steel door. Either the owner or Evolve's rep lied to me about the keys. I tripped twice on dangerous steps leading to the master bedroom, and put a chair on the steps for my own safety. Drinking glasses were mason jars. I had no wifi. Evolve's rep could not tell me where the modem or router were, or who the ISP was. I had no TV, couldn't use my computer, had to use cellular data on my phone, and no solutions to the down wifi. I had to work the next day from 10-2. I got up in the morning and nothing had changed. The bedroom was full of ants. The house seemed like a DIY build with sloping floors and weird unsafe transitions from the hallway to the master bedroom. Someone is going to trip on that and there will be a major lawsuit. Also, they wash their bedding in heavily perfumed detergent and it has such a strong scent, it made it even more difficult to try and get some sleep. The backyard is noisy, and overall, I rate this rental 0 stars out of 5. Of course, Evolve won't post this so, you won't know any of this. Don't stay here if you care about an honest owner/manager or your own safety. I forfeited 4 nights at approx $310 per night with taxes and fees just to get out of there. Of course, I have no protection as a renter, only Evolve does. I did write to the BBB for a resolution. Good luck.

    - We were in touch with our housekeeper regarding the key situation, and it appears there may have been a misunderstanding or misplacement of the key by the prior guest. The lockbox key serves as a backup in such situations. Rest assured, there was no ill intent or deception involved in the communication regarding the key's location.
    - The steps within the property comply with construction codes and safety standards. Each step features a steel protective edge to signify variations in floor grade. The hallway is adequately illuminated when the lights are on, ensuring safe navigation. Furthermore, our advertising explicitly states that this property is not step-free, providing transparency to our guests.
    - We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the wifi during your stay. The recent power outage necessitated a reset of our wifi. We made every effort to provide clear instructions to assist with resolving this issue.
    - We have not received any reports of critters from our housekeeper, who maintains a rigorous cleaning regimen. Nevertheless, we will take proactive measures to ensure that future guests do not encounter this issue.
    - While we try to accommodate all guests' comfort, we're sorry the detergent did not meet your preferences. Our bedding is laundered using standard Tide detergent and fabric softener.
    - In our experience, the neighborhood is typically quiet. If you could kindly provide more specific details about what you found noisy during your stay, we would appreciate it. This information will help us investigate further and work towards resolving any issues.
    - We have chosen to provide Mason jars as drinking glasses to align with the cabin's theme. Additionally, they are more convenient to replace if they happen to be misplaced or lost.
