  Just the two of us celebrating our anniversary. Our only complaint was the porch stairs and railing! The stairs are very weak and we were waiting for a step to break through. Also the handrail is all peeling and you have to grab the side to avoid getting wood or pain splinters. We are if an older age and we needed to hold on to not only go up the stairs but to be cautious in the event a stair tread broke through. These definitely should be fixed before someone gets hurt and the owners are sued. I’m not the only one who has commented on this. I thought surely it would have been addressed before we went up. That’s why I couldn’t give it 5 stars and also the back yard could use some sprucing up.

• Nice house, no AC

  Pros:

  House is really nice and very clean

  Furniture and beds were really comfortable

  Quiet and nice neighborhood.

  WiFi worked very well

  Saw elk one morning

  Kitchen had everything you needed for cooking

  Cons:

  No AC. Has portable ac units that are loud so you have to listen to those run all day and night. Was hard to enjoy the peace and quiet. Living room was still warm with that and fans going.

  Skylight in master bedroom made it hard to sleep in or take a nap because it’s so bright in there. No way to block out the sun.

  The steps to the deck are sketchy. Was worried I’d fall thru one of them. Handrailing is splintering so had to be careful not to touch it.

  Backyard is small and was very overgrown so didn’t bother going out there.

• Terrible! Don’t waste your money!

  Where do I start? First, the backyard was completely overgrown and the area between the screen door and back door was filled with cobwebs, dirt and debris. The kitchen sink leaked every time we washed dishes or ran the dishwasher and flooded the cabinet and floor. The master shower didn’t drain and filled the pan with several inches of water. Some of the windows did not open and all but the bathroom window had no screens. The bathroom window was so dirty that you couldn’t see out of the bottom half of the window. The front deck paint was peeling and the steps leading up to the front door were loose and rocked when you stepped on them. The family room rug was absolutely filthy, as was most of the carpet throughout the house. Several lamps were missing the parts that turn the lamps on and off. I could go on! Many of these issues were reported to the Owner and Evolve by our 2nd day in the house, yet the owner failed to even respond or acknowledge our concerns. We rented the property for 7 long days! DO NOT RENT HILDA’S RETREAT unless you don’t mind living with the conditions listed above.

  - We apologize for the state of the backyard and the area between the screen door and the back door. We're in the process of hiring someone to take care of this, trim the bushes, and mow the backyard.
  - The kitchen sink leak has been addressed by maintenance, and the issue causing the leak has been fully resolved. We were unaware of this issue and appreciate you bringing it to our attention.
  - We've confirmed that the shower drain is functioning properly after testing it thoroughly.
  - The absence of screens is due to the installation of window A/C units in the bedrooms and living room for guest comfort. Unfortunately, window A/C units and screens can't be used together.
  - We've shared your feedback regarding cleanliness with our cleaners for their awareness. The carpets and rugs were professionally cleaned a few months ago and were confirmed to be in guest-ready condition.
  - The steps and deck are scheduled for repairs and repainting by early July before the next guests arrive. This will ensure they're safe and visually appealing.
  - An issue with one lamp has been identified, and a replacement will be in place before the next guests as well.
  - We take guest feedback seriously and aim to address concerns promptly. We offered to release you from the reservation with a full refund, but you opted for an industry-standard discount to keep the reservation instead.
  We've addressed your comments with the relevant teams so that future guests will receive the exceptional service we strive to provide.
