• Beware of Sketchy Condo Complex and Neighborhood...

  In advance of committing to the VRBO rental, I did research the Deer Valley area of Phoenix and found mostly positive information. However, upon arriving at the condo around 6:00 PM in late January we found this particular complex of buildings to be a bit unkempt with inadequate lighting in the parking areas and multiple safety/security concerns. We had to call the management company to figure out where to park as it was so dark in the lot that we couldn't see the numbers referencing the correct space on the upper border of the structure.

  Inside, the condo was clean and mostly as represented. However, the on-line pics showed a shower head but no hint of a bathtub. The shower was actually in a bathtub which I would never have booked as we prefer walk-in showers for safety reasons. Other than that, the pictures of the inside were representative of the condo which would have been comfortable for two people. The big issue was the exterior area and the neighborhood. In the outside area for the immediately adjacent condo there was a man sitting in a chair with fabric cushions smoking a joint. Next to the man was wooden furniture and personal stuff piled high on another chair WITH A GLOWING SPACE HEATER SITTING IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO ALL OF THIS STUFF CREATING A FIRE HAZARD FOR THE ENTIRE BUILDING. Crime stats checked after the fact showed a high crime area with a murder in the vicinity that week. We left without staying!

• Clean one bedroom in quiet complex

  Nice one bedroom in a quiet complex that had all the amenities I needed. It was close to shopping and restaurants and there were many golf courses within 20 minutes.

  It was good with exception there was no place to sit outside. Pool area was closed which we didn't know when we booked condo.

• Stay in Glendale

  We waited until check in time and when we arrived, the room hadn't been cleaned. Called the owner, and he promptly arranged for a cleaning company to come. We left for a bit and it was spic & span when we got back.

  The condo itself was cute, but we were surprised that the only bathroom was through the bedroom. It made it kind of awkward because we had brought a guest who slept on the couch.

  Upstairs, the people were very noisy, stomping around until after 1:00 in the morning.

  Overall, our stay was good, but I rated it 4 stars because there were too many surprises.

• Clean and Simple

  Our experience with this rental is that it is very basic but clean. What is listed in the description is all that is there. We did have to deal with the lack of supplies but that was handled by the Property Manager. There is very limited TV ie no ESPN.
