Broken Promises
2/5 We arrived on Thursday. We had purchased groceries and planned to cook at the house. Our activities were planned around our meals. As soon as we arrived we figured out that the oven didn’t work. We called immediately to report it. The owner said he would stop by. Several hours later he had not come so I called and texted. He said he would send someone. That was Thursday. We called and texted all day Friday. Each time he promised someone was coming. No one came on Thursday or Friday. A repair person finally arrived Saturday morning. Two days after our initial request. The person who came on Saturday quickly said he couldn’t make the repairs.
Over the course of the three nights we spent more than $300 extra to eat out in addition to groceries we purchased but for the most part couldn’t use. Trying to be fair we asked to be reimbursed $150 total. They offered $79. Insult on top of injury.
I will add that the towels are threadbare, rough to the touch, faded and look like something you’d clean the car with not shower with. The mats on the kitchen are a slip/fall hazard. There are not enough real dishes for 10 people but they did provide plastic items. There are only 7 chairs in the house so people had to sit on the sofa to eat inside of at a table/counter.
5/5 4/5 Overall this is a nice place. It is fairly new, very large and was clean. There were a few issues: The "queen sleeper sofa" described in the listing is actually a large sectional couch, not an actual sleeper sofa. The recliner couches in the den don't recline. There are blinds on all the windows, but they do a poor job of keeping out light, so we were all awake at the crack of dawn both days.
