• Unbelievably Beautiful and Luxurious Seaside Escape

  Our family stayed at Gypsy Wind in the first part of June 2021 as the first guests. We just loved the panoramic ocean views from this amazing home! In all of our travels (nationally and internationally) we have never encountered such a clean, thoughtfully decorated, well-stocked place. Expect comfortable furniture and lovely ambiance, along with a kitchen containing "a real cook's" utensils and appliances. Gypsy Wind has an ideal screened-in pool, a lovely shaded yard, games and accessories, kayaks, paddle board, and great deck tables/chairs from various view angles. North Captiva reflects that dreamed-of paradise -- it is unlike other places in Florida...a handful of great restaurants and a refreshing no-traffic lifestyle...golf carts and kind people...a nature preserve...pristine beaches...docks for watching manatees and dolphins. Gypsy Wind owners Linda and Jim provided our family with great advice for arranging taxi/ferry travel to to the island and for experiencing North Captiva's magic. They are positive, creative, and helpful in every way. Finally, we want to say that the support staff echoed the values of congeniality, top-notch vacation support, and earnestness. The excellence of the place is matched by the people who surround it. Our entire week was joy-filled and we would recommend this place over and over again. Our hope is to return there again soon...this will not be a "best kept secret" for very long!

• Just what our family needed for a week of fun and relaxation.

  Our family had a wonderful week at Gypsy Wind. The house is beautiful, clean and equipped with everything you need for a week at the beach. We had sand toys, beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, plenty of beach towel and even a wagon to haul everything in. The kids loved searching for the best sea shells and jumping in the waves. When everyone was done at the beach it was a short walk back to the house for quick wash down in the outdoor shower and then a jump in the pool. The sunsets were breathtaking and the wildlife was a plus from the Osprey nest to the turtles and the geckos. The house comes equipped with plenty of board games and lawn games so there was always something to do. This house was just what our family of 14 needed for a week of fun and relaxation.

• North Captiva is amazing.

  We had an amazing vacation. 5 adults and 4 children. Everything about this experience was first class. Linda and Jim were great hosts who I now feel like are our friends. Some highlights were spending evenings at the tiki bar listening to Reds baseball (Great Bluetooth speakers at the pool and hot tub), cooking family breakfast in the beautiful kitchen (My dad commented “you don’t usually get these high quality types of pots and pans in rentals”), everything you would ever want for the beach (chairs, beach cart, games, kayaks, paddle boards). If you have the chance to go to North Captiva island this is the place to stay. Now we just need to figure out when we can go back again.

  Great time at North Captiva and Gypsy Wind! Linda was awesome to work with. Rented boat at Boats and Fun. Very nice house, pool and beach. Saw dolphins and manatees up close. Would definitely go back.
