  • Beautiful view

    3/5

Overall, there was a beautiful view of a creek and wilderness…There were several issues however, no cel service, some of the burners on the stove didn’t work, which is fine things happen however, in reading the guest log, it hadn’t worked for several years. It was billed as having sheets for all of the beds the living room pull outs did not have sheets, when I finally got a message through to the host the response was “you’ve been there for a 2 days and you just noticed this now?… The living room has a lot of windows wonderful during the day however, 4 people are expected to sleep in that room at night, and there are no curtains. There were other things, but all minor. I did, however miss read the information when booking and realized I owed another fee… I tried to contact the host, Vrbo and the other entity that I paid through… cell service was nonexistent and very difficult to get a message out to anyone as stated before I contacted the host to get them to bill my card for the balance… they wanted cash, I was not comfortable with this… and ask them to bill my card… They were insisting on cash… Due to several instances at the rental, I doubt that I would ever rent this Duplex again

  • Weekend trip

    5/5

Location was awesome. Kids played at the creek in the backyard for hours. Made a bonfire at night. Everything was clean. Plenty of supplies for large groups.

  • Beautiful setting

    4/5

Overall a nice place to stay. We stayed on a summer day.

Pros: Clean, newer build. Quiet location about 15 min drive from town. Not too far in our opinion.

Fritz Creek is a lovely spot in itself, very peaceful area.

Basic amenities are present plus some appreciated touches like a hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner and a few laundry pods. Ample bedding. Plenty of dishware. We did not cook other than to make coffee so I can't speak to stove/oven or pans. The coffee maker and gold filter + paper filters were much appreciated!

Plenty of parking, neighbors pulled in a boat on a trailer with room to spare. The grassy front area facing the creek is a nice place to sit. The balcony at our duplex was pleasant as well and offered a peekaboo view of the surrounding mountains. The balcony feels very private as it has a tall enclosure (when sitting you only see the trees and mountains, not the creek). The creek itself provided entertainment for our kids. Stairs are steep but easily navigated by our 10 year old dog.

    Cons:

    1) Not well soundproofed. We stayed in the upper unit and could hear every time the people staying in the lower unit moved around. Thankfully both units were occupied by relatively quiet visitors, but I imagine the sound in the lower unit of us just walking around (their ceiling being our floor) was loud. Our family noticed it feeling like every sound was amplified.

    2) The reservation states this sleeps 8 due to fold out couches in the living room. This is true.

Note there are zero shades in any of the living room/kitchen windows. While the unit still feels private, if you are not used to Alaska summer daylight, you might struggle to sleep or even visit in the living room on a sunny day. We did not sleep on the couches, but had to hide in corners of the couches while drinking our morning coffee, the sun was so blinding. As an Alaskan I'm not complaining about the sun, but a few strategic shades would help decrease the "tanning bed" effect.

Note the bedrooms do have wood slat blinds.

    3) Finally, the bedding was present but minimal. Comforters on each bed are very thin. There were 2 midweight spare blankets and 2 spare sets of sheets, likely for use on the sleeper couches. We were there on a warm weekend, but on a chilly night the bedding would not have been adequate. I suggest at least 2 spare comforters if this is being marketed as sleeping 8.

  • Beautiful location, Great Accomodations

    5/5

We all loved this place. It has a beautiful view of a creek and trees, and we even saw a moose on our first day. The place was very nice and comfortable for our family.
