• Comfortable stay but updates needed

  Upon arrival a/c was not working. Mssg’d contacts but never heard back from them whatsoever. Front desk helped us get a hold of the repair crew and they were able to fix issue after a few attempts. It was very hot and uncomfortable for a few hours, but glad it was repaired that same day (night by then). During our entire stay, all a/c units stayed the same temp since we weren’t able to change it, and it was freezing…but we rather that than it not working at all. Cleanliness was mid. After each heavy rainfall, we noticed the main room had a leak in the ceiling and the other room a leak from the wall by the restroom. TV in living room does not power on/off with the remote - even with their note that states not to use tv to power it, we had no choice but to do so. The entire room itself could use better cleaning and a few upgrades wouldn’t hurt. Location was very convenient. Staff was good.

  - On the day of your arrival, the condo experienced electrical problems. Our technician assessed the issue and replaced the main switch. The A/C units were temporarily fixed that same night, with the final repairs completed the next day. We’re sorry to hear you had trouble adjusting the temperature. The A/C remotes allow for temperature adjustments, and we wish you had let us know you were having difficulty.
  - We were not informed about the leak problem during your stay. We encourage guests to reach out to the guest contact, as detailed in the pre-stay instructions, with any issues so they may be promptly addressed. The homeowner has checked and found no current leaks but will monitor the situation closely, especially during the rainy season.
  - The TV in the living room has occasional issues with the remote, and the homeowner is considering replacing it. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused.

• Great time

  Really enjoyed our stay. The supply of 5gal' water jugs and dispenser was very helpful. Made a list of needed supplies at check in (coffee, drinks and snacks) and walked to Walmart and took a taxi back. Buy extra small garbage bags to use. The toilet paper can't be flushed ( I feel for them) as could cause the toilets to overflow and they only clean and empty trash "every other" day. Rooftop was nice. Not as big as pictures lead to believe. Good to watch sunrise. Don't leave anything for the next guest as I have at other VRBO's as it will be cleaned out. The previous guests left us some of their leftover bottles alcohol in the fridge. It was gone when we got back from Walmart. Close to 5th Street, beach and has a great pool. Hope to return asap.

  We had a great time at El Faro (Reef 403), 2 BR suite with Rooftop deck. We are a family of five, really 5 adults (kids are 23,22 and 17) and felt comfortable in the apartment with some minor adjustments.

  Firstly, El Faro in general. Reasonably priced. Perfect location, walkable to everything- half block from the main drag (Avenida cinco), ten min walk to 3 huge supermarkets and Walmart. Cab stand right up the block. On the beach with beach access. Magnificent, well kept pool. A lot of posts complained about the noise at night from the local clubs- it’s there, but wasn’t so bad, unless u sleep with your windows open. Close the windows and use AC at night, we did not hear anything, not at all an issue for us. Nice landscaping. Building is kept up pretty well considering it’s not one of the latest and greatest in playa.

  Here are the issue with the complex. There is no beach at high tide, maybe 20 feet of beach at low tide. Not a dealbreaker for us, we were fine with that. Can still go for a walk on the beach but at high tide u need to wade thru calf deep water. The pool is NOT HEATED and is not mentioned anywhere online (I’ve looked). During January when outdoor temp is 80 the pool is almost not swimmable for adults, I own a pool and I’m guessing about low 70’s water temp, which is uncomfortable. (kids loved it either way). The boardwalk that separates the hotel from the beach is under construction. Both must be from a recent storm that eroded the beach and wrecked the boardwalk. Not the fault of the complex, and they are fixing it as we speak. There is a small gym which is a nice perk, but the Elliptical (which is my preference) was broken. Other machines (3 total, with treadmill and bike) worked fine. Free weights in a side room. Dedicated Laundry room as well.

  As for our suite. It was a bit smaller than expected, but still not bad, we made due and were fine (really only 2 beds, a king and a queen, the futon and couch fold out as backup beds). Our major complaint- we booked this particular suite because of access to a private rooftop patio, which has a magnificent view, and was our favorite spot to eat lunch everyday. The issue is the pics all show what is obviously a jacuzzi. I couldn’t figure out why it was called a “plunge pool”. Well, no heat, no jets. Again, we loved the rooftop anyway, but were disappointed that it wasn’t mentioned anywhere that the jacuzzi doesn’t work especially since this time of year the water is freezing and the main pool

• Awesome beachfront condo!

  We had the best time staying at this condo! The location couldn’t have been better and everything was exactly as it was described in the listing. The concierge staff was so helpful and kind, and the security personnel made us feel very safe. The private pool and rooftop lounge pool were a huge plus. We could not recommend this property more!

• Great location and pool

  This was our fourth visit to El Faro. I love everything about it, particularly the location and the pool and the view. It’s the only place we want to stay in Playa del Carmen
