The property is a remodeled older home. It is located on the far end of Claytor Lake. The property is situated on a hillside with a fairly steep slope. The house is around 1500 sq feet with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There is a well equipped kitchen a separate dining room and a large family room with fireplace. There is a very nice view of the lake from the family room and porch at the front of the house. Personally the property is a little more isolated than we would have liked. I did not see al lot of things to do except the lake.

The lake is speculated and house great. Be aware no shopping nearby. Fortunately we brought lots of food so no problem. Had a blast on a boat rental.

From the owner: "We are glad you liked the property! Happy Tails is located 20-25 minutes from several grocery stores and restaurants. Next time, we recommend taking the boat rental directly across the lake to Rock House Marina for good food and live music!"
This is a really nice property and the photos don't really show how nice, clean, and updated things are. At the same time, a couple of things to note: 1) the house does not have waterfront, but it is directly across the street from the lake/docks and has awesome views of the lake. 2) the driveway is very steep, so just keep that in mind if you plan on walking the neighborhood. All in all, it is a nice, quiet neighborhood with nice neighbors and lots of lake entertainment to watch from the wrap-around porch.

From the owner: ''Thank you for your positive comments. The house does have waterfront access to the grassy common area. Guests may fish, swim, launch kayaks, etc. The docks, however, are private. Guests also have free access to a public launch,
docks, swimming area, and day camping area less than 1/2 mile away at Harry Dehaven Park.
The driveway is less than 40-degree incline so that's not steep in the mountains.''
We loved the house. It was perfect for a quick getaway. We enjoyed the deck, cooking in the kitchen and just relaxing. Overall, we'll appointed house in every way!

From the owner: "Thank you for your positive comments. We are truly happy when we hear how our guests like Happy Tails!"
We loved our stay here! We spend most of our day outside on the wraparound deck reveling in the great lake view and the nice breezes. The two king size bedrooms were extra nice. The interior is great for a larger group and very well set-up. The kitchen was thoughtfully outfitted with every major kitchen item and some extra perks like olive oil, plastic bags, and aluminum foil/plastic wrap. We'd 100% stay here again!
FYI - the house is lake view not lake access. There is a good wading area about a 1/2 mile walk away, though.
Also, I'd recommend not booking via Evolve. Their customer service was basically nonexistent. We couldn't connect to solve a problem despite several phone calls and emails.
From the owner: "We are glad you enjoyed your stay. This property is lakefront access, directly from the grassy common area located in front of the house. Harry Dehaven Park, less than 1/2 mile away, has a free swimming area, public launch, and good fishing. I am sorry Evolve did not respond to your questions. It is always a good idea to contact your host with the more specific questions."
