We traveled to the Cooperstown area as a celebration trip for my husband‘s birthday. He chose the trip destination, the Baseball Hall of Fame, and this was a great location/cottage to use as “home base” for a few days. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the areas of Cooperstown, Milford and Cherry Valley. It was a laid-back time of year to be a tourist in this area. We have used VRBO several times, and give this cottage 4 stars for a couple of reasons. I would highly recommend that you thoroughly read the description of the cottage and acquaint yourself with all of the idiosyncrasies of this rental. I am usually pretty good at doing that but there were a couple of things I missed. The running/tapwater is not potable, however drinking water is provided in a large cooler. Not a huge inconvenience however something to be aware of. We were not informed ahead of time that the dock would be taken out of the water at the time we arrived. My husband is a fisherman as well and was looking forward to sitting on the dock to fish and was not able to do that. Basically all of the outdoor amenities were closed down for the season and we were not informed of that. It was very cold at night low of 29° and the heating was by a woodstove which took us a little while to figure out, no central heat or A/C. Having never operated a woodstove it was a bit of an adventure! Two things I would recommend to the owner are more comfortable seating in the living room - need a new couch and the linens and bed pillows were a bit shabby. That being said, we enjoyed the cottage by the lake, the view is fantastic and the proximity to all attractions in the area worked for us!

Our time at Arnold Lake is always too brief, but we were delighted this year to find this lovely cottage, which felt like a home away from home. Well-stocked kitchen for all kinds of cooking, beautiful views upstairs and down, cozy with personal touches throughout. We enjoyed reading about the history of the cottage and the family’s love and care for it. The dock was a great place for reading and swimming and just taking in the view for hours. The lake is pristine. On our walks we met welcoming and friendly neighbors. We look forward to returning with our daughter and son-in-law next time!

This property is in Otsego County not the lake. It is Arnold lake 25 minutes from Cooperstown. There was perishables left in refrigerator and the tv was not working. When attempting to call the host the number was disconnected. Emailed VRBO who contacted someone that got back later that night but we already made other accommodations since no one was available. I was told sorry but host info had never been updated . Now disputing refund over a week

Hello Maria, thanks for letting us know about your stay. The owner wanted to share the following:
- The property is listed accurately as a lakeside property but it does not state the property is on Otsego Lake and we are sorry this impacted your stay.
- The items in the refrigerator are left by previous guests. We have not had any complaints from previous guests and guests tend to enjoy them while they are there.
- The TV is in working order but not every channel is available to view. This information is provided in the Welcome Book and Guide Book so guests are fully prepared for their stay. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
How lucky we were to have this cute place to relax and unwind after a long day of ball games. Convenient to CDP, Milford, and Cooperstown, this house felt like a world away. Perfect patio, dock, Smart TV and Wi-Fi were the perfect blend of disconnecting and staying in touch. Thanks for a great week, we will tell our friends!
