  • Nice place but confusing check in directions

    4/5

There was confusion about check in instructions.

The room was cute and very nice. We would stay again. Very private.

  • Wonderful!

    5/5

Host was very pleasant and accommodating. The room was perfect with the kitchenette and large shower. Breakfast provided was great and nice to have a healthy start to the day. Massage was wonderful. Was there early July. Perfect location. Within walking distance to Augusta Emporium/Wine trolly stop, Augusta Winery, and Mount Pleasant. The area around the place was beautiful with the thoughtful landscaping. Would definitely stay again. Great experience!

  • Great to Stay in August

    5/5

My wife and I stayed in Augusta on our way to view the eclipse in Indiana. It was a great sojourn. It is also very central to all of the major wineries in the area. So if you like good wine and the usual bar and brewery food you are okay. Halcyon provides you with a nice continental breakfast with all of the food right in their refrigerator.

The service is excellent and the bed was very comfortable. And the windows OPENED, so you can enjoy the nice cool breezes in the evening. We stayed in the bottom apartment so you could sit outside on a nice patio with table and chairs to enjoy your wine, cheese, and snacks. The only issue was that on the very sunny last day of our trip, we couldn’t sit there because there was no umbrella, but is was a beautiful day, so we just went inside to our breakfast nook and opened the window by the table. It was nice.

My wife had a great massage and it was another reason for our visit to Halycon. We looked forward going to Roots + Wine for dinner, however we were very disappointed.

The flavor profiles were too unique, portions were ultra small, and the bill was very large for what we got. The wine list was extensive and the wines were very good.

We will DEFINITELY stay here again, if we are in the area. I probably wouldn’t do it in the heat of a Missouri Summer with the western facing rooms we had, but it was great here in the Spring and the Fall would be nice for this room. The other major comment would be that there was only one reading lamp with one chair and no reading lamps or side tables. We need lamps and tables by the beds. The place is about 4-4.5 rating, but I always round up on halves.

  • Would love to try it again in better circumstances.

    4/5

The room was cozy & we loved the heated floors in the bathroom. We arrived in a snowstorm and no one was there to tell us where to go, even though we arrived within the timeframe that the instructions said someone would be there, so it was confusing for a little bit until we finally got ahold of the last person on the contact list. (I will forever be grateful to Julie for braving the storm and walking over to help us find our way because we had even driven through the town to see if someone could help us but it was literally all closed down). I think they usually bring a nicer breakfast (weather permitting) but in our case, it was simply there was some yogurt & bagels in the fridge & some granola & fruit on the counter. So that is what we were given for 2 mornings of breakfasts. Luckily, we had brought 2 salads from Washington before we headed to the B&B or there would have been nothing for supper either, as everything was shut down. I can only rave about the spa & the massages were A+. I appreciate that they braved the weather the next morning & showed up for our appointments. The spa is not connected to the B&B business, but they went the extra mile & found us some coffee because even the small coffee shop in town remained closed the following day. In fairness, I would try this again, in season, because I think this could be wonderful! I would just warn persons that if you try this in the off season & the weather forecast could be bad, to call them in advance to get instructions so when you get there, you know where to go and please bring provisions because they might not be available. I laughed because there isn't even a Dollar General there! (no gas station or convivence store either). The wineries are great but they too were shut down during the storm & even when they opened the next day, they have limited winter hours. Our personal favorite was Augusta Winery! The Emporium opened up later the next day & I would recommend that you check that out also! On the final day, we just headed to Washington to enjoy a good breakfast. The town is quaint and I can't wait to visit it again someday!
