The Homosassa River is a popular feeding ground for the Atlantic Tarpon, known as the 'Silver King of the Sea World.' Head down the river a short paddle to visit the world famous Monkey Island or paddle up the river to the headwater of the springs to meet the friendly 2,000-pound manatee neighbors.
Homosassa and Crystal River are 2 coastal neighboring towns within Citrus County - famous for being the only place in the United States where you can legally swim with the manatees.
Head to Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park only a few miles away & enjoy a pontoon boat tour to further your knowledge of the wildlife that inhabits these Florida waters. Book a fishing trip with many local fishing guides, book a manatee tour or book a scallop trip during the 90 day season July- September.
'The Upper Deck' is next door to SeaGrass Resort restaurant and outdoor tiki bar. Walk the other direction to Marguerita Grill, another popular restaurant and bar with outdoor waterside seating. Just a little further down the street, you can visit the brand new "Crumps Landing", an enormous waterfront tiki bar & restaurant establishment.
You can kayak, boat, or walk to these coastal restaurants for an authentic Homosassa experience! Venture across the river to more waterside restaurants! "The Freezer" is famous for steamed shrimp and MacRae's is famous for their waterside "Shed" establishment and music.
Also located here in Citrus County is Black Diamond golf course, aka the "#1 Golf Community in Florida." With 45 holes of Tom Fazio-designed terrain, this course is a beautiful area to hit the links and then stay for a delicious dinner with views of the stunning Quarry Course.
Nadeen was the best host I have ever dealt with. We called with a question about life jackets and she answered several other questions for us and sent pictures of the ramp and how to get to monkey island. House was well stocked with paper products and kitchen items. We were only ther for 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The home is equipped with just about everything you needed.

Place was listed with boat ramp, but there was no dock or place to tie your boat up when using the ramp, and it could use some work. Also, description said you could keep your boat in the cove nearby, and it had rocks, and was mucky. So, it turned out unusable for us.

As mentioned prior to your arrival on the phone when we spoke, the cove is not for everyone. There is no dock or seawall that can be used and therefore you must jump on and off your boat. The picture we sent you showed how close the cove is to the home and how convenient it is, but again, it's not for everyone. Our private boat ramp is enjoyed by all who use it because the only other options are public ramps that you pay for and wait in long lines to use. It is a launch and go ramp. We always try to give total clarity to all so they know what to expect. So sorry the cove and ramp were not to your liking."
This property and host was one of the best rentals of all time! The house is gorgeous and full of anything you could need from shampoo and conditioner, to kayaks and paddle boards. Swimming with manatees was just the icing on the cake! My family and I will 100% be back!!!
