  • Just OK for the price

    3/5

Great views and a quick 69 steps down to the beach. A older house with 2 small tripping steps, has its challenges. Beachside of house none of the windows open, so that you could hear the sounds of the ocean. Short entry driveway off a busy highway.

One draw back is the landlord’s want you to strip the beds, take out the trash and if you would be so kind do a load of dirty towels or sheets before you leave it would be much appreciate.

  • Spectacularly beautiful spot!

    5/5

We loved our stay here. The view from the living room out over the bay and to the light house is spectacular. We had the beach to ourselves. It was very comfortable and we very much appreciated having a place that took dogs.

  • A dichotomy; a mixed bag

    3/5

5-star view, 4-star beach access, 2-star house. Great views from kitchen and very large living room. Access to very secluded very nice sandy beach, albeit via long steep stairs down a high cliff. Quiet area.House is old. Bathrooms clean and functional, but mediocre-hotel quality starting to show their age. Stove and fridge also clean and functional but mediocre. Cooktop works but has been terribly abused by someone. Fridge door rusting, painted over.Living room carpet nice. Hallway/bedroom carpet not -- maybe okay, but looks like old, bad shaggy carpet. Gave my GF the creeps. Weird unexpected 3-inch steps: master→hall and hall→kitchen. Don't notice until you trip. A hazard. We almost fell several times.Best update done was all new windows with wall of windows in living room showcasing the amazing view.On entry we were hit with strong musty/mildewy smell. Old houses near the ocean do get this, but it was so strong and remained no matter how much airing out we did. Living room also had just a hint as if someone smoked there long ago - would notice it whenever I re-entered, but then forget about it. Hallway and 2nd bedroom initially smelled like a dog was there, but that subsided.2-car garage a plus, but somewhat grungy and smells strongly of old, damp wood.Actually quite a bargain for such a nice view and access to such a nice beach. If that's your primary goal, and you're ok with the funky old beach house vibes and smells you may really like it and rate it higher.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Craig, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. After reading your comments, the homeowner wanted to share the following: "To address your concerns, we are committed to conducting a comprehensive cleaning of the house, which includes enlisting professional carpet cleaners to clean all the carpets. As part of our long-term plan, we intend to replace the older shag-type carpet with new short Berber carpet and install warnings on the floor for step downs. The house is equipped with a dehumidifier, and we will not only continue to utilize and monitor it but also encourage our guests to keep it operational and empty it once per day. Additionally, we are considering the acquisition of a second dehumidifier to further combat the effects of the humid ocean air. Furthermore, we will evaluate all kitchen appliances to determine if any replacements are necessary. Our goal is to maintain a well-cared-for home located right next to the ocean, and we remain committed to ongoing upgrades and modernization efforts. Thank you for choosing our property, and we look forward to providing an enhanced experience in the future."

  • Stunning beach location

    5/5

This house is positioned on a bluff overlooking Cape Arago and the Pacific Ocean. Our group of 4 had a memorable time together here. A private staircase leads down to a beautiful beach. Although the house is an older one, it has big picture windows, an expansive living room, and a small but well provisioned kitchen with every gadget we needed to prepare our meals. one bedroom is enormous and one is small. We will stay here again. Plenty of good quality towels too.
