    This house had that cozy, antique, nostalgic feel that's so characteristic of upstate NY. It was beautifully decorated and clean, and the owners were friendly, accommodating, and answered my questions over text very promptly. I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever visiting the area! I'm also amazed that 9 of us 30/40-something-year-olds in our mixed-gender group managed to share 1 bathroom w/no difficulty!

  • DON'T!!!! THE PICTURES LIE!!!

    Buyer beware. We left after 5 minutes, Horrible beds, ugly kitchen, next door lot is a giant mudpit construction site and other side is storage for heavy machinery for the city of Rochester. Couldn't lock the upstairs door back after a man came out of the downstairs apartment and approached my 14 year old daughter and told her he was house sitting "so as not to scare us", which scared my daughter. I contacted the owner right away to tell her and she saw nothing wrong with letting a weird man approach people's kids. I DO! I have no idea when the picture was taken because that is NOT what the property looks like now, she didn't show what is currently happening, so you think you are getting this cute little house with a yard and you are not. Save yourself the headache because this owner doesn't take good care of the property. I don't care what her response is, read the other reviews for yourself and then read her responses and how she tries to justify her terrible property. You have to clean!! You have to have decent beds!! You can't say it sleeps 14 and then have room for about half that!!! Remove the old machinery from the kitchen staircase down to that creepy door in the basement!! Maybe remove the faded Christmas decorations from the front porch when its April!! How about you replace the front door knob so you don't have to "use a lot of strength to turn the knob!! How about you put a current picture up showing all of the mud and debris everywhere so guests know what they are ACTUALLY GETTING? For the record, I am not even paying attention to what her response is, as she will make excuses yet again. This person has no business owning a property they can't take care of and then blaming everyone else for the guest's bad experiences. No thanks!

    Hi Donna, we take guest feedback seriously and passed your comments on to the homeowner who would like to share the following:
    - On the day of your check-in, we accommodated your early arrival at 10:30 am as requested. Our house sitter, who was present at the time, introduced himself upon hearing noises at the front door. Your daughter was left unattended at the front door when he opened it to investigate. At that moment, he was approached for assistance with the key by yourself.
    - Regarding the property's surroundings, the next-door lot is currently being utilized for storing dirt intended for building low-cost homes for families in the neighborhood. Additionally, the machinery previously observed for window installation has since been removed.
    - Concerning the interior, the kitchen remains consistent with the images provided on our listing, and the beds are as depicted as well. As for the upstairs back door lock, we have not received any previous complaints regarding its functionality in the four years since its installation. It should easily lock and unlock without issue.
    - The lighting fixtures on the porch are installed for safety and security purposes, providing visibility for anyone approaching the premises at night. They are not intended as Christmas decorations.
    Regarding sleeping arrangements, the property can accommodate up to 14 guests, utilizing additional sleeping options such as futons, roll-out beds, chaise lounge chairs, and air mattresses. These were not set up during your stay as your party consisted of fewer than seven individuals.
    - Lastly, the basement door should not be considered creepy unless it is accessed without authorization. It is not part of the rental and should not have been opened.
    We regret any misunderstandings or inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will take it into account to ensure improvements are made where necessary.
    We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.

  • Needs a deep clean

    The host was nice and reached out before we were to arrive. Unfortunately the apartment needs a really deep clean. There was a dirty sock in the kitchen, mouse poop all over, under the beds were dirty, and there was dry blood on a comforter. The worst part was the hair that was on the wall and soap in the shower. The neighborhood was rough, but that’s no fault of the owners.

    - I have now cleaned underneath the fridge and stove. I've also deeply cleaned the entire home.
    - Your feedback about mouse droppings is concerning, and I want to assure you that we've closed the mouse hole to prevent further issues.
    - I have personally swept under the beds again, despite having done so before your arrival. I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

    - Had I known, I would have provided a new comforter and taken swift action to rectify every concern.
    - I'm truly sorry for the lapses in cleanliness, and I want to assure you that your comfort is a priority for us. I acknowledge the stain you mentioned and assure you it's not dried blood.
    - I have an array of comforters, and I would have gladly provided a new one had I known about your dissatisfaction.
