  • Nice location, but disappointing stay

This cabin is nicely located not far from the town of Luray with some coffee shops, good BBQ, and a convenient Food Lion as well as highways and Shenandoah National Park. It's just enough away up a mountain that it feels peaceful and somewhat secluded as well. Don was a very receptive host that accommodated an after dark check in and was accessible when we had an issue with the AC. His adorable pug Miracle was a delight to see on the property each day.All that being said, the stay at the cabin wasn't quite the relaxing stay we'd hoped for. The interior is in nice shape and has plenty of space, however a few things took away from the stay.1) There was a never-ending flow of stink bugs through cracks around the door and windows. They were all over the unit the whole time we were there, by the dozens. They're a harmless bug, so it didn't warrant leaving, but they were an annoying presence throughout.2) The blinds didn't fully close in any of the rooms, so we covered them with towels to have privacy3) There were a lot of folks staying on the property, from people in an RV just below our window, to Don, and at least one other set of guests. No one was a problem, but it was more populated than expected.4) There was construction going on in the garage below our unit, which resulted in typical noise, but also fumes at one point. We put towels down under the doors to block the gas/kerosene smell.5) The A/C unit seemed to be having issues. It could only be controlled by a faulty remote, you'd set it to cool and then wake up with it on heat. At one point, it died completely, but Don fixed that quickly.6) Not sure if it's just the local well water or something else, but the water from the shower and taps smelled/tasted somewhat rotten eggs. This resulted in not the cleanest feeling/smelling showers and the need to purchase a bunch of bottled water.

    Manager's Response:

Hi David, thanks for letting us know about your stay. After going over your feedback, the homeowner wanted to address the items that you mentioned:
-Unfortunately, stink bugs are common this time of year.
-The A/C was having issues but has been fixed.
-The property does use well water. We haven't had any comments about it but will keep it on our radar.
Thank you for all your feedback and for taking the time to write your review!

The property was very nice, pet friendly. Was close to what we wanted to see. Don, the property manager was very friendly. My family and I enjoyed our time there.
