We were supposed to stay here for 4 nights and celebrate Christmas as well as my parent's anniversary. To make a long story short, we had several issues but the biggest was that the septic tank was overflowing and we were forced to leave after two nights. However the property company only refunded us for one night even though we missed two nights AND had to leave at the last minute on Christmas eve and find a new place to celebrate Christmas. More details:The property manager Becky was nice and did everything she could, but the house is not in great shape. The furniture is old and oddly placed. For example, the listing says it sleeps 17 but there are only 7 chairs in the dining room area (4 at the table and 3 at the bar), and another 4 at the opposite end of the living area. So we always had to eat separately. The main living area with the TV only has two chairs and a pool table... we had to have people sitting on the floor or move the tall chairs from the dining area to watch TV. The large windows in the living room are plastic, not glass, so the house was always cold until we figured out how to run the fireplace. The fireplace smoked whenever the fireplace door was open, but wouldn't warm the house when the doors were closed. There was a blower installed but it needed an extension cord to run it, so we had to request one and then the cord was running across the floor so we could warm up the house. As mentioned earlier, the septic tank overflowed on the second day. We were offered to stay one more night with the risk that showers/toilets could stop working or overflow with swage. The smell of raw swage outside was overwhelming! Of course that is not acceptable so we had to leave on Christmas eve and find a new place. The property company only refunded one night stay.... I'm guessing because we chose to leave before the septic swage started coming up the pipes. Then they just stopped responding to my messages.

This home was large enough for our party of 13 to be comfortable yet cozy. Several of the rooms are really large and could easily fit another bed or two. We had a last minute addition who took advantage of the self filling air mattress. There were electric space heaters for each room and they really helped keep the place warm. The fireplace has a blower which kept the living room warm and cozy. The big picture windows are not glass so the room would have been frigid without the blowers. The flue may need to be cleaned because there was some smoke seeping into the room so we had to keep the glass closed. There was ample firewood which we also used in the fire pit to make s’mores. The kitchen was well stocked and the appliances are upgraded. An ice maker would have been nice and the only thing we were missing was a pan to bake lasagna. We made lasagna soup instead. The first few days were too cold for us to spend time outside, but there were kayaks on site. We’d like to go back in the summer to enjoy them and fish from the dock. The host was very responsive to our 2 little concerns and actually came by and took the trash out. The layout is a little choppy because there is a pool table in between the living area and dining area and it has no real seating. The only TV in the living area is located in the room with the pool table. Only one of the bedrooms had a TV, luckily it was one of the big rooms. The spiral staircase was challenging for a few, luckily only a couple of over 50 had to sleep upstairs. All in all we had a blast and would definitely recommend this property for family gatherings.
