This property and the owners were amazing! It was our grandsons first vacation (10mos old) and we had so much fun and made so many memories! He loved being outside! From rocking in the rocking chairs on the upper deck, swinging on the front porch, or walking around with his walker he was on the go. With a baby it can be challenging so I had asked the owner if we could do early arrival and they were more than accommodating. We arrived and the house was exactly how it was described. There were snacks, waters, and even a sweet thank you note. It was the small things that really impressed me like giving us a new sponge to use for our dishes, shampoo/conditioner/body soap already stocked in the bathrooms and all the fun beach toys, chairs, and umbrella we were able to use instead of having to buy it all. I loved the welcome book that literally showed you how to work every single thing in the house. On our last night we were able to grill burgers on the grill, play a few games of cornhole, and top the night off with Monopoly that was all provided to us from the owners. They really did think of everything!!! I would recommend this house and this renter 10 out of 10 all day long!!! We loved that it was a bit away from the sea wall but such a quick drive in as well. The beaches at Jamaican Beach were sooooo much nicer and the Seven Seas grocery store was such a little gem! Can’t wait to come back year after year!!!

  • Nice 2 family home

    5/5

This was a nice short vacation home.

Cons: It’s a longer walk than we anticipated. The picture that is shown of the path to the beach is not next to the house, more like a 10 min walk with kids. House was good for two families any more and it would be crowded. Couple suggestions would be more kitchen hand towels, we only had one for entire weekend. No cooking oven mits which made it hard to cook. They have list of appliances inside the home when you arrive but it’s only a small Kuerig, microwave and waffle maker. No other cooking appliance such as skillet or crockpot (other homes we have rented have come stocked). TBH cookware is slim. There is no hood/fan for stove so if you make bacon beware.

Pro: Nice spot to watch the sunset, quiet neighborhood, AC worked great. Comfortable beds and couches. Clean.

The house was good for a short stay, we would book again for a weekend but not for longer than a couple days.

The overall property was comfortable and nice however, we found dirty clothes, dirty dishes and food underneath the bunkbeds. There were roaches in the kitchen. Roach droppings on all the dishes. There was hair in the bathtub, and there was dirt on the floor. The cleanliness of the house was very, very disappointing. The trash can outside had the worst stench on dead fish.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Kathy, we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts about your stay. Your feedback is important to us. We've reached out to the homeowner and they would like to share the following:
-"Regarding the concern about roaches, we want to assure you that we haven't been aware of any issues with roaches, nor have we seen any signs of their presence. While we believe our cleaners have been doing a commendable job, we acknowledge the importance of maintaining a high level of cleanliness, and we've had a serious conversation with our cleaning team to ensure this.
-As for the trash can, it was indeed empty, though we understand that its usage by previous guests may have contributed to the situation. We wish that you had contacted us during your stay so that we could have taken the necessary steps to make things right for you. We have already addressed this with our cleaning team to avoid similar situations in the future.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to host you. Our commitment to all our guests is to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests as evidenced in all other reviews."

House is cute, spacious, well-stocked. But the canal is dried up, smelled like raw sewage, yard needed mowing, ant mounds needed treated, propane grill didn’t work, water/ice dispenser on fridge didn’t work, dishwasher needs to be looked at, smoke alarm continuously beeped as it needed new batteries, thermostat is set on a schedule so we woke up every night to the house being 78 degrees and extremely hot. It was miserable. Trash was left outside from previous tenant, wall art on the ground was broken and glass everywhere, towel rack in the bathroom was missing, cobwebs under every cabinet and tv stand. We arrived about 40 minutes early, were able to get in and all the beds were unmade, clearly not cleaned from last tenant. Called host, he said cleaning crew running late. They showed about 25 minutes to check in. Before they arrived we stripped the beds, even though welcome book stated not, but Evolve instructions stated to strip them. This had us thinking that cleaning crew was just going to make the beds and not provide clean sheets. Cleaning crew kept shutting the bedroom door while changing sheets, so we kept opening them. I cleaned the kitchen myself because there was no way the crew was going to thoroughly clean a house that size in 20 minutes. Maid asked if I wanted them to vacuum, said yes but there was still dirt on the floors. The location is in a good spot, close to beach and some really good restaurants. I contacted Evolve and waiting to hear from owners.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Delena, we’re glad you enjoyed the location, but we’re sorry other aspects fell short of expectations. After sending your feedback to the owner, they’d like to share the following:
    - Our check-in time is 4:00 PM, and guests are kindly requested not to enter the property before this time. If you'd like an early check-in, please reach out to us in advance. We've addressed this with our cleaning team to ensure the property is cleaned in time for check-in.
    - We visited the property after reading your comments and inspected the yard for ant mounds. Although we didn't find any, we observed some ants in the area. The yard was treated in the spring, and we're exploring options for another treatment.
    - Our maintenance team mows the lawn every two weeks, and we apologize if it wasn't freshly mowed for you. The water feature behind the house is a pond as shown in the listing photos. Unfortunately, this summer was particularly hot and dry which is out of our control. We encourage guests to research the area before booking to ensure it aligns with their expectations.
    - We checked the gas grill, and it's functional. It appears that the automatic igniter is not working, but it can be lit manually, as previous guests have done with the grill lighter. We also provide a smaller charcoal grill.
    - We ran the dishwasher, water, and ice dispenser and confirmed that they were working. If you didn't have ice at the time, the ice maker needed to be turned on, we apologize for the oversight. After investigation, we've replaced the batteries in one of the smoke detectors. While we recognize that an upgrade in appliances is on the horizon, everything is in working condition.
    - Our thermostats are adjustable by guests. Detailed instructions are in the guest book in residence, and in videos provided in the digital guidebook that is emailed before check-in. We wish you'd reached out to the guest contact during your stay for assistance, we would've been more than happy to help.
    - Our trash pickup is scheduled for early Mondays, and we recognize that the previous guest may not have taken the bins out. We're sorry if both of the trash bins were filled.
    - We're aware that a previous guest broke the towel rack. However, there are alternative places in the bathroom to hang towels. The cobwebs found behind the TV stand have been taken care of.
We truly go above and beyond for our guests and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!

  • Great beach house with quieter location!

    5/5

Our family of 8 enjoyed the house for a couple of nights on a Galveston getaway. We were greeted with snacks and a handwritten note from the Gobe family. A comprehensive informational binder was available with everything we needed, as well as Theo, our host, being quick to respond via text. The house is located about 20-30 minutes away from in-town activities and restaurants, but we really liked the location of it being quieter and not right next to a bunch of neighbors. The kids enjoyed the outdoor play area and the hammock & swing chairs. (These amenities would be spectacular if it wasn't for the 100 degrees Texas heat.) Everyone appreciated having a TV in every room (if winding down and falling asleep with the TV on is your thing). There were K-cups and most of your basic spices available, along with Tide pods and dryer sheets, and access to the garage for beach supplies. If visiting the beach, you can walk across the main street or drive onto the beach at a public access about 5 minutes away. We loved the house set up and would be open to returning again!
