  The cleanliness was unacceptable. I had to buy cleaning products and a shower curtain liner. The liner was covered in pink mold, kitchen table was dirty, dried food on the fridge and stove front, floors were filthy. I had to wash every towel in the house, they smelled like mildew. The smell was so strong it transferred onto your skin. We left the house cleaner than when we arrived.

  The renter offered the cleaning service to return and clean again, but I chose to do it myself and not have people in the house during my rental. The cleaning sponges the cleaning company used were terribly dirty and gross.

  The living room furniture was old and broken, not what's pictured in the listing. Hall closet door didn't have hinge pins and the door fell on my child. The pool room has 2 large areas where the floor is caving in.

  However, the house layout was perfect for my family and the neighborhood was quiet. With a few improvements I would gladly rent again.

• Terrible, just terrible

  We booked this house as we were coming into town for a family wedding. We had 7 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs coming. When we arrived more lights did not work than did, seemed that bulbs were out. Certainly that should be checked and fixed periodically or between rentals. We also only had 2 towels. We reached out to the number provided and got the automated response that we would hear back within 48 hours. First- this is an unacceptable turnaround time of something is needed. It’s now been 5 days and we never heard from them. When we reached out to a different contact for the house about the towels we were told they’d had many stolen and didn’t replace them. Again, this is unacceptable and is a risk you assume when renting your property. We were also only provided one roll of toilet paper, the fence/back gate were very insecure and full or holes- not acceptable to say this rental can safely accommodate dogs in the yard.

  Sydney, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
  "We're sorry to hear you did not enjoy your stay. We strive to provide excellent stays for our guests and we regret this was not the case for you.
  -We have had some people get confused about which light switch controls certain lights, and we will look at labeling them.
  -For some of the amenities such as bath towels, paper towels, and toilet paper; we usually keep them stocked up mostly. Some of these perishables are extra expenses that guests may have to purchase separately due to several factors, and the rates are kept as low as possible compared to similar homes because of this. However, we will definitely get with the cleaning crew to ensure a more adequate number of the low items are stocked up better.
  -We keep an on-call backup number in case the primary is busy; we did respond in 3 minutes after the backup was called.
  -I'm sorry to hear that the backyard didn't work for you. We will be making some renovations shortly to the home to bring it up to the standards that it should be.

• Perfect family get away

  My husband and 19 yr old daughter absolutely loved the secluded feel of this conveniently located property. We made the drive down to see family/friends of ours and couldn't have picked a better located and more perfect home to stay in. The home was well maintained and clean with a great layout that afforded us room to have our friends over for dinner, beverages and a couple rounds of pool. Thank you for great communication before during and after our stay as well.
