  • Fall Family Getaway

My family and I enjoyed the stay at the cabin. Everything was very clean, the housekeeping service did a great job! The beds were all made with fresh laundered sheets and the most adorable bedspreads. The cabin was just how its pictured! The decor in the cabin really added to the Adirondack feel! You can tell that the cabin is well cared for and loved! We enjoyed waking along Schroon River. The road on the other side of the river was a less used dirt road, perfect for walking on with our family and pups! The location of the cabin was great for going to Lake George Village/Bolton Landing one day and then visiting Lake Placid/Whiteface Mountain the next day. One of our favorite things was coming back to the cabin, lightning the fireplace, and playing board games! The owners have a closet full of board games to play for a wide range of ages. They also have a tv with Netflix and other streaming services, perfect for rainy days! We would definitely recommend a stay at this cabin and hope to come back next season!

  • Highway Noise Cottage

The drive was difficult to find and my gps took us to a vacant home. I only found it bc I remembered seeing a photo of the sign with a bear on it which has the street address on it and happened to glimpse it. The numbers are pretty tough to see. I'm glad I have 4WD to get up the narrow, steep drive as well. The cottage can't be seen from the road, but cars on the highway that is literally 20 yards away can be heard all day, all night. The kitchen area is very small with no counter space, and there were quite a few dirty pans and glasses in the cupboards. The rooms were very small, but beds were comfy. One bedroom has a bed frame larger than the mattress that sits on it, so my daughter had to be careful not to trip over it. There was literally no where to put clothing with the exception of one closet, as drawers were either filled with random bedding or smelled of mothballs. Strange/outdated electrical system too, with overloaded outlets and few light switches...random pull-chain lights everywhere and lamps, some of which I did not find a place to plug them in. The bathroom was nice sized, but shower "shifts" were recommended, as there is only a 30 gallon water heater. The shower door leaked unless the shower head was angled away from the opening. There's a perpetual leak in the bathroom sink with a rust colored stain where the water hits...making me really wonder if the water is safe to drink. A couple of strange dark stains on the floor near the toilet and shower...not sure if it's mold or something else. No toilet paper was provided other than what was on the roll; luckily, I typically bring TP and paper towels to rentals, so not that big a deal, but for $1600/4 nights, I expected at least a couple of rolls. The location was ok...we were 20 minutes from Lake George, but that highway...It was impossible to enjoy the deck and fire pit because it was just so loud outside, and just as loud inside. There was no escaping the road noise. A real bummer, because it is a decent outdoor area. Two of the three large outside trash cans were full from previous guests. The WiFi was down when we arrived, but the owner had contacted me with the door code, so I did reach out to him , and he was very responsive and had the router replaced the next day by the time we got back from our excursions. Otherwise, cell service is practically non-existent when inside. All in all, the cottage was serviceable, but for what I was charged, I would not stay there again.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Jennifer, thank you for your review. We wanted to pass along the following feedback from the homeowners: We're very sorry to hear about the poor experience that you had. The cleaning team did not take all the garbage the week before, and this was the week that we switched our garbage services, so there was some confusion about when garbage pick up was. I will discuss the issues with our cleaning team, as they are supposed to provide a few rolls of toilet paper and paper towels to incoming guests, and of course the dishes should be clean. I was glad I could replace the modem the next day as soon as I was able. The map shows that the property is very close to the cottage, and other guests seem to not have an issue with this, but I am sorry to hear that it affected your stay. Four wheel drive is not required to access the driveway during the spring, summer, and fall--neither of our vehicles have four wheel drive.
