I rented this home for my son's college senior football game at Mississippi College. We had family in from Alabama, Colorado, and California. It was 6 adults. The home was great!1) What you see is what you get. If you like what you see in the listing- it's exactly what is there. It's very clean. Very cozy. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc.2) Homeowner/ host is wonderful! Very attentive to address any questions/concerns/requests. But She leaves you alone during your stay!3) Beds are very comfy!4) AC/Heat works very well. Funny- but the weekend we stayed we had to use both! Hey, it's the South in Fall.5) Corner Market: A grocery store literally on the corner from the house! Has basically anything you may need. You can walk and pick up a few bags of groceries in no time. Staff at the store are nice, helpful, and courteous. 6) The house has a beautiful fire pit. The homeowner/host graciously provided us with plenty of wood to enjoy it. Unfortunately, we froze so badly at the football game, we couldn't bear to get cold again. 7) However, we did make an after-game meal of burgers and brats on the gas grill, and it worked wonderfully!8) Location: The home is located in a very beautiful, historic district of Jackson (Belhaven) and very close to wonderful restaurants nearby and a short drive to restaurants in the Fondren district.I'm so glad I found this gem of a property! It really gave my family a great time and place to gather and share!

We and our extended family came to Jackson from Alabama, Colorado, and California to celebrate our son's senior football game at Mississippi College. We were 6 adults and The Babbitt House fit us perfectly! I have rented many homes over the years, but this is what makes this home stand out in my mind:
1) What you see is what you get: If you think the pictures in the listing look lovely- IT IS! There is no bait-n-switch here! The home is very well stocked with pots, pans, plastic cups, paper plates, dishes, glasses, etc. We never ran out of towels- very well outfitted and very CLEAN!
2) The homeowner/host is very attentive. We got very quick response to questions/concerns/requests before and during the stay. But while you were there, you were left you alone (unless there was a need). I can't tell how valuable that is during a stay with family.
3) The beds are very comfy!
4) AC/Heat works well! Funny, we had to use both during the weekend- you got to love Fall in the South!
5) Corner Market is literally just around the corner from the house. You can walk to it in just a few minutes! You can basically get anything you need in groceries from there!
6) Beautiful fire pit that the homeowner well stocked with wood! Unfortunately, we were so frozen after the game, we couldn't bear to go back out and get cold again- so we didn't get to enjoy it! It was COLD on game day!
7) However, we did grill burgers and brats after the game. The grill worked great and the homeowner provided us with plenty of gas.
This home was the perfect stay for us! It allowed us to make some wonderful family memories! We look forward to staying again!
From the owner: "Sandra: I'm so happy that you and your family had a good time at Babbitt House. I Look forward to hosting you guys again sometime soon!"
Our family had the pleasure of staying at the Babbitt House recently. The neighborhood was quiet, safe, well-kept, and close to many local attractions and conveniences. Once inside, I totally forgot that I was in a short-term rental, I felt as if I were staying with friends and family.
The pictures online are spot on. No “catfishing” here. Everything was immaculate and amazing. We were welcomed with refreshments, which was appreciated after our long arrival in Jackson. The décor was eclectic and perfect for the mood of the house and historical neighborhood. Inside were the original hardwood floors, plenty of windows and lighting, live plants, and even a piano if that is your thing.
As a travel agent, I pay close attention to details, in this house, there were no details left out. We were provided with luggage racks, a washer and dryer, an iron and board, every kitchen appliance you can imagine, board games, and smart TVs in many rooms.
Of course, the house was spotless, the bed was uber soft and comfortable, and there was plenty of towels and blankets.
The outdoor living space was a dream. It had an abundance of seating and gathering space for friends and family, mature trees, and a fire pit, that included a torch and a lighting log, all covered by enchanting string lights.
The most important detail of all was the responsiveness of the host. She made sure we were comfortable before, during, and after our stay.
We are in Jackson quite a bit and would not imagine staying at a basic hotel when we know we can reserve the Babbitt House for our stay.
From the owner: "It was so nice to meet you both. It means so much to me that you appreciated all of the details that went into creating Babbitt House. It brings me so much joy to know that we have the opportunity to host such kind and respectful guests. Thanks for everything. We look forward to your next visit!"
Absolutely great accommodations! Wonderful rooms throughout the house. Loved the kitchen, plenty of room. And then there is the backyard with fire pit!
Very short walk to anything you need, groceries, restaurants, and beer gardens. Highly recommend a walk to the new craft brewery, Fertile Ground Beer Co.
Elizabeth the owner, was immediately responsive to any questions.
We were there for ten days, and look forward to a return!
From the owner: "You were a pleasure to host. We look forward to your next stay at Babbitt House! So glad that you had a chance to visit Fertile Ground. What a great place!"
