Home was absolutely as advertised. We very much enjoyed our stay. You can feel the love and care that was put into this home and it felt like visiting a piece of their family’s history. The views are absolutely gorgeous as well! 10/10 would love to stay again!!
My family stayed here in Aug 2022. I've been meaning to write a review for others considering this listing. Overall, I agree with the reviewer who said that the pictures are misleading about the condition of the home. It honestly looked like it had been rushed to the rental market days after someone who had lived there for 75 years moved out. It desperately needs maintenance. That said, the price we paid was affordable for our family and less than other rentals in the area at that time of year. But now I see next year's rate has more than doubled. I hope this means upgrades are planned?Pros: location, proximity to the water, outdoor platform for bird watching and reading. Nice artwork/decor. Kitchen fully stocked, lots of books, strong wifi. Nice side patio table.Cons: The place is full of quirks and not in a good way. Here is a rundown:Bedroom 1: Small/upstairs, tucked under a slanted roof, so fine for a kid but not for adults.Bedroom 2: Small/upstairs. Both BRs 1&2 have box ACs which was good when we arrived in a heat wave the first day, but bad all the other days because the way they were mounted meant you could not open a window to get any fresh air."Bedroom" 3: Downstairs, appears to have been a sunroom--all windows with no curtains! Also there is just a curtain attached to what appears to be a pull-up bar separating it from the main room--no door. So if either light or noise is going to disturb your sleep, this isn't really a viable option. The wall socket in this room started smoking when I plugged in the lamp (I guess that's why it was unplugged).Sleeping area 4: The loft located directly over the living room area. Giant bed but we gave this to our youngest son, the one who wakes up at 6am every day.Bathroom 1: Upstairs near bedrooms 1&2--sink, toilet that clogged with every use, clawfoot bathtub.Bath 2: Located upstairs in the hall between bedrooms 1&2 and the loft. It has NO DOOR closing it off from the hall/loft area so there is essentially NO PRIVACY. It has a toilet and shower, and sink down a step in the hall.Bath 3: Half bath downstairs with toilet and a utility sink near the side entrance. At least it flushed!Other quirks: Tripping hazards due to uneven floor layout, indoor furniture/throw pillows lumpy/dingy, outdoor furniture was splintery, back stairs dangerously blocked by chair lift device. The lovely front window in the listing pics was too grimy to enjoy the view, even after I tried cleaning it inside and out.

The night we arrived, there were no lights on inside nor outside the home. It was extremely dark out that night and it looked like a haunted house, very eerie. The photos advertised appear to be photo shopped to appear much brighter than it actually is inside. Major remodel needs to be done as the decor is at least 40 years old including wallpaper and furniture. This is the first negative review I’ve ever written on Vrbo. I spoke to the owner to let her know my concerns, she is very nice and hopefully they will remodel, but didn’t want to see anyone spend the money they’re charging and be very disappointed, as we were .

Gary, we are sorry to hear you feel our vintage home appears eerie. When arriving late in the middle of the night, our home may appear different as our photos are taken during the day. We use professional photography for the home, so the features you see on the listing are accurately advertised.
We take pride in our home and most of our guests enjoy a trip back in time when they visit.
Thanks for the feedback - we strive to make our vintage home as comfortable as possible for our guests, and we’re very sorry to hear there were some frustrations during your stay!
Property was as described. Easily located via Waze. Easy to follow check in and out instructions. Really appreciated the fairly stocked kitchen- didn’t have to buy coffee filters! Gorgeous views. Would stay again.
