4/5 It was very close to Bar Harbor and Acadia which is just what we were looking for. The house was spacious and had plenty of room for everyone! The only issue was the lack of air conditioning. It was cooler outside at times than in the house and sadly there weren’t screens on all the windows so it was hard to get the air to circulate through the house to cool it down. There were fans, but especially upstairs it was hot! I didn’t think about air conditioning being an issue when I booked it.

Not quite right for us
4/5 The owner and agent were very nice, the house was well-maintained, and very nicely appointed with expensive and interesting fixtures. The configuration, for us, at least, left much to be desired. We have stayed in many vacation homes over the years, and the layout was certainly not typical of an easy to use three bedroom two bath home. I don’t think that that their description was grossly misleading, though I did have the impression it was a little more directly on the water; you had to traverse a short, but ample path through a ravine to get there from the house. Two of the three smallish bedrooms were in the loft in one section of the house, with a bathroom that serve them downstairs off one of the two kitchens; the other bedroom was in the other side of the house with a bathroom across the hall. They were two kitchens, a large one, and a smaller one, and one main dining area. This looked to me like some sort of duplex that had been opened up, but I can’t be sure. Regardless, it just wasn’t convenient to be going up and down stairs to get to a bathroom next to the kitchen; to have the bigger refrigerator and freezer in the smaller kitchen, without a range;etc. Maybe for some people it would work fine. I might point out if this was one of the more expensive homes in that area of Maine; we have stayed at other places that I felt represented better value. Ellsworth is a good location from which to tour the area, and we love coming to Maine in the summer.

Beautiful cottage close to Acadia
5/5 We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was clean and comfortable, with lots of personal touches. It was a short drive to Acadia National Park.

Great vacation getaway!
5/5 The cottage was everything that was stated. No surprises. It was very clean, well equipped and a great location for many activities. We had a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend!
