Duct Tape and Dirty Cabin
2/5 Our first impression was the mailbox duct taped to the post. Our second impression was to find the key (that was supposed to be in a lockbox) merely laying on the porch railing. That is probably because there was no lockbox. Inside the duct tape continued. The was an absolutely filthy stove with the handle duct taped on. Next was the filthy refrigerator with the handle duct taped on. There were several other things throughout the cabin that were held together with duct tape. The floor in the bathroom was so dirty that we wore our socks just to walk through the house. The intake vents were caked with dust and grime. There were cobwebs in virtually every corner. Things were so dirty that we chose not to use anything in the kitchen and felt like we needed to wash our hands after touching anything. The linens and towels did appear to be clean and we were grateful for that!
We tried to contact the owner when we were preparing to leave, to find out what we were to do with the key, we never heard back.
We expected “rustic” and that has its charms. What we got was dirty and broken.
