For our daughters birthday, she wanted to go to an area without light pollution, without people in close proximity and bring her telescope. This cabin & the land surrounding were perfect!!! As a family of 4, that get into hiking and enjoy nature all together, we explored & enjoyed the trails around the cabin, the amazing fresh air, the sound of the rain on the rooftop, the large backyard (that we sat out & gazed at the stars). The hospitality of Charity & Jimmy was extended with farm fresh eggs (from their farm), & honey from a local town, along with answering questions in a heartbeat! You will see Jimmy's woodworking throughout the cabin, from the dining table & chairs & bench, to the large checker board & lamps, it gives such a nice rustic feel to the cabin. The things we did away from the cabin,...we took to hiking to zapata falls ( 35 min drive), hiking the Great Sand Dunes (45 min drive), and experiencing the Smoothy's juice bar in Alamosa (almond joy was my family's fave). We recommend Rendezvous for bbq (in Ft. Garland), we're not big on eating out, we did our own food fixin the rest of the time.
This created one of our best memories, Heartfelt thanks to Charity & Jimmy!
