  • An OK place


    We give it a 3, overall, because was an average property compared to other places we have stayed in the past. The location was great for our purposes and the grounds were maintained satisfactorily. Pool areas (2 nearby) were well cared for. The interior was modern and comfortable, the beds were decent, plenty of nice linens and kitchen utensils. However, the unit felt dark. It is likely because of the fact there is only one window (second bedroom) and then three sliding doors (one in the master and two in the living area) as a source of natural light. Unless you want to be on full display to your neighbors, you tend to keep the solid dark drapes closed a lot of the time. Blinds or shutters would be better so at least you can regulate some light into the rooms and still have some privacy.Now the frustrations which really kept it from being a higher rating.First off, every place we have ever stayed had a notebook with basic instructions, rules for the complex, how to's on appliances, heating and cooling, local attractions, restaurants and so forth. Here, there was nothing. So, everything was trial and error for us. The AC/Heat was controlled by two thermostats (one for the bedrooms and one for the living area). We only stumbled across the one for the living area when we could feel air blowing through the bedroom registers but not anywhere else when it was running. Then we found the second thermostat.The next thing was the TV. Again, not hint or clue about how to even get basic channels. Everything was set up for streaming services so no basic cable. We aren't the streaming type of people. It would us several minutes of scrolling each time we turned on the TV to figure out how to watch anything. We even tried logging into our cable provider at our home so we could watch programs, but that failed as well as the TV wouldn't acknowledge our login credentials. When our frustration had reached it's peak, we contacted Jeff about this and asked him to assist us in operating the TV. We never heard back from him. Apparently, whoever Jeff is, is not local to the area so we are left to wonder what EVOLVE is all about. In closing, we wouldn't tell someone not to book this property as it suits the purpose, just be advised that there are things the owner should take the time to address to provide a more pleasant stay for their guests.

    "I’m glad you liked our location and common recreational facilities. My wife and I really love the walking paths and many trees and greenbelts throughout The Villages. We also greatly appreciate your feedback. This is our first year as vacation rental owners, so we are making improvements as we get guest feedback. Based on guest feedback, we’ve already made some changes that include a Keurig coffee maker for those who prefer just one cup in the morning, and we are installing new Milgard patio doors/windows before the peak fall rental season to improve our indoor lighting and energy efficiency. I’m sorry that you didn’t experience the 5-star stay that we always strive toward for our guests. We want our condo to be warm and inviting, so we’re always happy to hear how we can make it a better experience for all. I remember getting your email shortly after you checked in, and I responded within the hour to answer your questions about the AC and the TV entertainment options. Our TV has built-in Amazon Fire TV, which offers Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Fubo TV, and Sling TV, just to name a few of the most popular apps from the Main Menu. And live local channels are also available via our HD antenna (Main Menu selection). If you wanted a traditional cable TV experience, I would have been happy to provide you with our Sling TV log-in credentials where you could access 40 popular cable channels including A&E, AMC, Comedy Central, ESPN, ESPN 2, Food Network, HGTV, TBS, TNT, and cable news channels to name a few. My apologies, I just didn’t realize that is what you were looking for.

    As for the lighting, the lower level condos at The Villages tend to let in less natural light, but that also keeps the condo cooler during hot Arizona months. We installed blackout curtains throughout the condo (except in the kitchen) which makes for a better night’s sleep. We find that if we open up the living room window treatments to let natural light in from our patio (which overlooks the greenbelt) during the day, that provides a good amount of natural light. However, we will consider installing adjustable blinds in the living room based on your feedback after we install our new patio doors this summer. As for a notebook with basic instructions and tips, thank you for that feedback. My wife is working on a notebook that will be in the condo shortly. As new owners, we offer a few unsolicited instructions in our introductory email (not to overwhelm our guests) but have decided to not provide tips on our favorite local restaurants because everyone has different tastes, different families, and different budgets. There are literally hundreds of fabulous dining options within a short drive of The Villages for you to choose from via phone apps like Zomato, Open Table and Resy. We love all the great food and entertainment options that the Valley has to offer. For us, it’s difficult to choose which ones to recommend. We do leave some local to-go menus and Scottsdale activity magazines in a basket under the living room coffee table if you’re looking for some ideas. I also provide my cell phone number in all my correspondence and encourage our guests to call me directly if they have any questions or concerns. And while we don’t stay in Scottsdale year-round, we have someone local who can address any needs that require in-person attention.

  • Perfect for Us


    This property was great for our visit to Scottsdale. It was extremely clean when we arrived. There was everything we needed for our stay - the only thing we had to buy was food! Communicating with the manager was quick and easy.

  • Nice and clean


    Very responsive host, well appointed unit, kitchen had any appliance you could want.We did find out that we were paying way more than anyone else we m set at the complex. Daily price and additional fees were too high.
