  • Our stay at the Supper Club

    3/5

Overall this was an OK property. It does have retro feel to it which was cool but the place could use some updates like showers for a starter. On a pretty busy highway and pretty much in town but that is more on me than the owners. Nice pool table. Pier really needs an overall as it sways when walking on it. Had 3 to 4 deer stop in yard nightly which was great. Caught a few fish but would suggest a boat if you go there. The pizza at the neighboring Jailhouse saloon is over rated. Just throwing a lot of cheese on it doesn't make it great.

  • Family vacation

    3/5

Bar room with pool table and the living/dining room are spacious and good rooms to gather and play games. Location is perfect with a public boat launch 300 feet away. More care could be taken to clean the unit. The outside has huge potential but it seems there is not much care for the outside. The shubs, weeds and vines are over grown and obstruct the lake view and give little room for an outside table.

  • Fun retro feel, but needs work

    2/5

The retro supper club vibe in this house is fun. The common spaces are large and the original woodwork is cool, but the house is dark, exacerbated by several lights that didn’t work. The kids loved the popcorn machine. The owner was responsive when we needed new oars for the rowboat and a password to watch movies. But the property looks neglected and needs work. The landscape is overrun by weeds; there were screens missing on the windows; we only saw two smoke detectors in the entire house. The front seat of the rowboat is cracked and the middle seat is missing a piece, making it impossible to sit on. There was no anchor so taking it out to fish was frustrating. By the dock we noticed an old, broken and jagged dock pole underwater, very near the right dock, which could cause serious injury. That, along the super murky water, made the lake un-swimmable for us. Inside, we saw cobwebs in many corners. We were disappointed that we were each only given one towel/washcloth for four nights (and with two kids, more towels were needed). There was no soap provided in the showers and we had to buy more paper towels because one roll was not enough for six people for five days. Overall, we were disappointed. For what we paid (average of about $665 per night with all the fees) we expected a cleaner, more functional and more well-appointed property.

  • Quirky with charm

    3/5

The property was clean. The quirkiness was fine but the house needed updating. The primary bathroom needs to be updated. The carpet needs to be replaced. The light hanging in the kitchen with an extension cord can’t be to code..?The “3rd bedroom” does not have its own entrance-you have to enter through another bedroom. That’s not explained anywhere. The outdoor rails are very shoddy. We were way overcharged for what we got.

    Manager's Response:

Hi Dana, we’re sorry to hear your stay did not meet your expectations. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:
    - This historic house, built in 1909, once served as the Pine Lake Inn in the 1920s through the 1960s when it transformed into Dick & Dolly's renowned supper club. We have diligently preserved and accentuated its Mid-Century Modern interior, which may not appeal to everyone's taste.
    - It's important to note that we market it as Mid-Century Modern, signifying its vintage character rather than a modern design. We use professional photographers so we can be sure that our images accurately reflect each property and guests can decide before booking if the décor meets their expectations.
    - We successfully passed our annual inspection by Oneida County, most recently in June 2023. The mentioned light fixture, dating back to the 1960s and imported from Austria, meets all relevant codes. Additionally, the choice of carpeting in the bedrooms is intentional, as it provides extra warmth during the harsh winters of the North Woods region.
    - We're currently updating our listing description to ensure clarity regarding the bedroom layout. Please note that the third bedroom is accessed via the second bedroom. A sliding door between the two rooms provides for total privacy. The railings in question were installed in November 2020 when we purchased the house. They've been inspected and do not require replacement at this time.
Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!
